The Hotel Sunce is an ideal location for a quiet relaxing holiday, this small family run hotel is right on the beach in Podstrana overlooking the Island of Brac, the beach is ideal for a relaxing swim but beach shoes should be worn as is the case with many beaches on the Dalmatian coast it is made up of small pebbles. There is a hotel beach bar for drinks and lunches under the hotel. The Hotel is run by a charming German lady called Mira, although she speaks only German and Croatian she is delighted to be of assistance. For those with only English there was a young lady called Danielle in the hotel in the mornings (pony tail, very pretty) who is very happy to make any arrangements for trips etc; and also to arrange airport transfers by taxi if required, Our sea-view room on the second floor had a surprisingly large balcony with table and chairs fitting easily into one end, the view was perfect especially at sunset. The room itself was comfortably sized with plenty of floor space and storage. There is a safe at no extra cost which worked perfectly as did the air-con, be aware it will not operate if the balcony door is open. Breakfast is plentiful if you are early but Mira and her staff are happy to cook fresh eggs, omelettes etc. The bus stop to Split id 60 metres to the right of the hotel with service every 30 minutes. To sum up, good hotel, pleasant helpful staff, clean and modern interiors, ideal location for Split, quiet and relaxing. Vielen dank Mira!

Cracking hotel with bus route to get to split town just a 5 minute walk down the road. Anna is a lovely lady and all staff willing to help with whatever you need. Plenty of excursions to hand and reasonably priced. Your own beach is literally 5 seconds walk from the hotel and plenty of sun beds no need to run down and reserve a bed etc. Own bar on beach too with local beer on tap. The owner speaks German and no english however Anna is there a Croatian lady who speaks good English if your stuck with wanting to know anything etc. However the owner is really welcoming and equally willing to try to help with anything! Would defiantly recommend this hotel to anyone willing to experience Croatia for a nice relaxing holiday but with all the excursions to give you the option to explore if you would like adventure.

Hotel is on a lovely location. Sunsets here are amazing. The reception is not assessable without a key, and there was no one who understood English at reception that made it difficult. Housekeeping is very friendly and does a wonderful job, and understands English! They did not have enough breakfast out some mornings, but it was not too bad. Only a 25-30 min Bolt ride into Old Split.

Mgr or owner did not speak English (even though adverstised at Eng speaking), only German, and was incredibly rude. The AC in my room was not working and I could not find her (owner) anywhere. I had to call expedia mulitple times to get in touch with her. She ignored me 3x re: AC, instead showing me how to operate it on the one in the 'lobby'. I tried to tell her each time that it wasn't working. She would then disappear again. FINALLY, after expedia spoke to her, she came up to my room to fix the AC. It WAS NOT WORKING - a hidden breaker was switched off - no way for me to figure that out on my own. She didn't apologize or even offer a bottle of water as I was dripping with sweat. She closed the bar/rest early, so I couldn't even purchase anything. I had to walk down the beach to get a cold drink. Room was TINY, which I didn't mind bc it was just me and was for one night (airline rebooked me). Couldn't even open my suitcase in the room. DO NOT STAY HERE! 3 stars, my ass. 0 stars would be more accurate.

Hotel Sunce is a lovely little hotel on the beach strip, about a 20 minute drive from Split center. Some other reviews have noted problems with the AC not working, but as long as the windows are closed, it will function. It's not the coldest ever, and the fan isn't very strong, but after a while the room cools off. Reviews have also noted the lack of an English speaking staff member - happy to report that this year there is a wonderful young man who speaks perfect English! On the plus side, the hotel's beach is very nice and clean, the food is tasty and plentiful, and the staff are always ready to help. You can leave your beach towel at home and rent one from the hotel for about 3 euros/day. The only negative in my opinion was the hardness of the bed - the mattress is thin - but this miight not be a bad thing for those with bad backs. Regardless, I would definitely return!

Nice location out of the city with beach. Car park not big enough for all guests so found we had to leave the car on the road which wasn’t ideal as there is no parking really so it was on the walk way. The air conditioning did get working but it so weak even on full power it barely made a difference and was switched off during the day so was always hot when we got back. Breakfast was cured meat, cheese, eggs some cereal and other odd little which was ok but could do with a little more choices. Staff don’t speak English so you will need to get a translator app or try your best to determine what is being said.

We stayed for 4 nights at Hotel Sunce and enjoyed our time there. The owner was lovely very, always accommodating to any of our requests. We had a beautiful balcony with amazing views. The breakfast choice was quite good, with hot and cold foods. Some bacon would be a pleasant addition. It was unusually cold the first night, so we were given a heater the next night which was great. Bus stop close by to get into Split. Overall great value for money.

Arrived early in the morning at 11am and was greeted by the owner who doesn't speak English, Croatian or German only. Was told to wait at the outdoor sitting area till 2pm when the room is ready and another staff arrive who speak English to check us in. Bedroom and bathroom are small but clean. We have requested specifically for a room with sea view and balcony which made up for the size of the room. The hotel has no lift with lots of steps/stairs. You would need to use stairs to get down to the beach. Therefore this is a problem for someone with limited mobility. As advertised, the hotel is right next to the beach and we had the balcony door opened and slept with the sound of the surf every night which was lovely. Breakfast choices were limited if you are used to full English breakfast. The swimming pool is smaller than it appeared on the photo but as I was the only person who swam in the unheard cool water, it was fine. Bring your own toiletries as only one shower gel and two tiny soaps were provided. Biggest issue we had was the hotel is permanently under staffed and on several occasions, we were approached by other guests if we have seen anyone as they could not find hotel staff anywhere. Appreciate it is not high season when we were there but not brilliant if you are running the business on a shoestring with one owner and another staff. Not the most welcoming/friendly owner we have met in our travels.

Breakfast is plentiful if you are early but Mira and her staff are happy to cook fresh eggs, omelettes etc. The bus stop to Split id 60 metres to the right of the hotel with service every 30 minutes. Hotel location right on the beach fabulous.Its central to visit other towns.Its our second time to Croatia in three months loved it that much.Split beautiful, visited Trogir ,Omis and Krk National forest waterfalls.

Cracking hotel with bus route to get to split town just a 5 minute walk down the road. Anna is a lovely lady and all staff willing to help with whatever you need. Plenty of excursions to hand and reasonably priced. Your own beach is literally 5 seconds walk from the hotel and plenty of sun beds no need to run down and reserve a bed etc. Own bar on beach too with local beer on tap. The owner speaks German and no english however Anna is there a Croatian lady who speaks good English if your stuck with wanting to know anything etc. However the owner is really welcoming and equally willing to try to help with anything! Would defiantly recommend this hotel to anyone willing to experience Croatia for a nice relaxing holiday but with all the excursions to give you the option to explore if you would like adventure.

Arrived early in the morning at 11am and was greeted by the owner who doesn't speak English, Croatian or German only. Was told to wait at the outdoor sitting area till 2pm when the room is ready and another staff arrive who speak English to check us in. Bedroom and bathroom are small but clean. We have requested specifically for a room with sea view and balcony which made up for the size of the room. The hotel has no lift with lots of steps/stairs. You would need to use stairs to get down to the beach. Therefore this is a problem for someone with limited mobility. As advertised, the hotel is right next to the beach and we had the balcony door opened and slept with the sound of the surf every night which was lovely. Breakfast choices were limited if you are used to full English breakfast. The swimming pool is smaller than it appeared on the photo but as I was the only person who swam in the unheard cool water, it was fine. Bring your own toiletries as only one shower gel and two tiny soaps were provided. Biggest issue we had was the hotel is permanently under staffed and on several occasions, we were approached by other guests if we have seen anyone as they could not find hotel staff anywhere. Appreciate it is not high season when we were there but not brilliant if you are running the business on a shoestring with one owner and another staff. Not the most welcoming/friendly owner we have met in our travels.
