Barrington Lodge Hotel

Don't expect the Ritz. Closer to or on par with some of the Travelodge's I have stayed in. You get what you pay for. I've stayed several times as I go because it is cheap & cheerful & suits my needs in terms of location & price. Staff - Reception is not staffed but as I came for check in time the door was open & person arrived at front desk a few mins later. Was friendly & helpful & showed me to room. Room - Reasonably priced & you decent enough. Furniture & decor are tired looking, dated & could do with some updating but it is functional & comfy enough. Twin room was decent sized & had some storage room, chair & desk. Tea, Coffee & Milk sachets provided along with 2 cups/saucers. Also 2 clean tumblers. TV - ok size, dated, works but is slow to respond. Beds - mattresses are decent & linen is clean. Bathroom - clean enough & you get some small individual shower/shampoo gel bottles. Some of the fittings could do with minor repair e.g. shower door not quite on runners, towel hanger/hook was missing/broken. Electric shower worked well (nice hot water) & was large enough. 2 Towels - small but ok size. No floor mat, so wet floor. External Appearance - Needs big tidy up outside, rubble, weeds etc. Tucked away in a housing estate, some parking spaces (only pay £5 a night but it used to be free). No guarantee of a space so if I paid & then popped away & came back to no space then wouldn't have been happy...luckily I got last space when I returned. OK for price I paid

We were very surprised how run down the room was - nothing like what the pictures showed online. Stained carpets, peeling walls, dead bugs in the lamps, old shampoo caps in the shower from the previous guests. The bedding seemed clean, but the beds were old and stained. The absolute breaking point was that there was absolutely no hot water in the shower (and absolutely no water pressure), and although we texted them repeatedly, no one did anything about it. There was no one at the front desk to talk to after we had checked in. I guess you get what you pay for. We would definitely not recommend or return.

I stayed a night and it was absolutely lovely. I was able to walk to and from town/the train station and the shower was hot and the bed was comfortable. Staff was kind and helpful, thanks for a great stay!

I like that the bed was very comfortable and the room and the bathroom were spacious with a desk and a separate dining table and comfortable chairs. Upon arrival the staff was kind enough to help me with one of my bags and the Wi-Fi worked very well. They’re also was complementary tea, coffee, milk, bath toilet toiletries and a tea kettle. The only thing I did not like was feeling a spider touch me at three in the morning as there were a few spiders in the room but I did not get bitten thankfully.

I like everything about this hotel nice and staff friendly and kind. I will be there again and again so comfortable.

It is important to note that this is a lodge not a hotel. There's no food service on site. Check in details were missing details about how to get into the room. We phoned the assistance number, the person was exceptionally helpful and then requested that £5 cash to be left at the desk to pay for parking. Expedia notes that this is included. Felt like bit of a scam.

I've stayed here on a regular basis for 2 years and have always been satisfied. However, under the new management, I was disappointed on my last visit. As there were no towels in my room and no hot water in the sink and no one on reception to request a towel from in the morning. I am going to book it again and hopefully I have no problems and things change back to how they were.

I was very disappointed to find that the picture they gave us of the room was not of the room we stayed in. This was particularly bad as the person sharing the room with me was autistic and so when expectations did not match reality, they had a melt down. Usually turning on the television can help distract her, but when I went to turn it on the screen was cracked and you couldn't see any picture. When I brought this to the attention of the person at the reception, instead of offering to get me a replacement, they just smiled and stated it must have been a previous guest who broke it. It felt not only was i hoodwinked by the advertised room quality by these people, but then given poor service on top of that. Avoid if you can.

Parking charge of £5. Ok for 1 night. Good location for away football fans on a long trip

On arrival needed ID to take a photo of and asked for £5 parking charge per night (these should be highlighted on the booking, and parking included in the price) Room was average, shower had no curtain and took a while to drain, 1 not very big towel per person. Otherwise a pleasant stay for what we needed.

The hotel is horrible. The building is in terrible condition. The furnishings in the rooms are ancient. The television wouldn’t function even when the employee tried. The picture of the hotel is either AI or very old. The bathroom was moldy and smelly.

After check in a was shown to my room. Outside my room was a pile of dirty bedsheets. Inside my room there was litter down both sides of the bed. The bed sheets didn’t cover the mattress , and there were hairs on the bed. The place was extremely run down and didn’t feel safe. I went straight down and told them the issues and that I would check out and find somewhere else to stay. Hotel.com tried to get me a refund but the hotel refused. My only advice is to avoid and stay somewhere else.

Value for money stay. No problems. Would use again.

Room was dirty, bedding did not smell clean, shower was rusty and had black mould, cob webs in the corners of the room. Funky smell in the bedroom. Whole room needs re painting and revamping. Television had a European plug shoved into a uk plug. Small towels. Overall would not stay again, only stayed as it was late at night when I arrived and I was knackered but the smell of the bed did make me feel uneasy.

Yes, very clean. Simple and practical, good size TV, friendly welcome. I had an enormous bed!!
