A little gem in Dronfield. Great location with good parking and an overflow parking area just a stones throw away if needed. The bedroom was nice and quiet despite the fact it was Friday night and there was a DJ in the bar area. The breakfast (full english) was amazing and all the staff were attentive and very welcoming. Will be back and have already recommended the place to my brothers and sister if they are in the area.

Clean, warm room. Small but adequate. Lovely breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Water flow poor in the shower. The building is old so floorboards squeak. This is a pub with another pub next door so there is some noise til midnight but very quiet after that.

I booked a "King Suite" as my husband is tall, but after checking in we discovered the room had a double bed. There was no alternative available so we decided to stay and make the best of it. The room was quaint but we found the lack of curtains on some small windows difficult to deal with and there were cobwebs on the light fixtures and furniture. Unfortunately that was nothing when we realized that our room was directly above the bar, which turned into a loud, raucous pub on Friday and Saturday nights. There is no mention of such in the description of the hotel and we were blindsided by the live music, loud crowd and lack of consideration to hotel guests. We got through the evening on Friday, going to bed with ear plugs and covering the windows with couch cushions, but Saturday was a different matter. Although the live music ended at 11pm, the piped music in the bar was turned up and continued until 1.30 am in spite of a supposed 1am closing time. There was also a fight that occurred downstairs which was essentially 8 feet from our bed (through walls). The language and noise was horrendous. On check out I talked to the person who claimed she was management and she denied any of the noise or disturbances ever happened. No apology and essentially saying I was lying. The lack of respect, accountability or professionalism from the hotel staff was astounding. The description of a charming, comfortable and welcoming hotel is far from what we experienced.

I stayed recently here and had booked in by accident to a room that had a separate bathroom over the corridor. This may not be an issue if you wasn’t a female solo traveller and also given that the bathroom is a very small space and has a very thin 80’s style door to it that means you can hear everything through all doors etc when you’re on the corridor. The room itself is nice but very basic and needs some updates. The wall behind one of the bed sockets actually moved and felt unsafe plugging my phone charger in. The dressing table was unusable due to the positioning of the mirror and due to the low period ceilings you didn’t have any other options. I also left with 3 bites I believe from the one nights sleep as I asked to move and could but at a premium price and was refused a partial refund so really disappointed with my stay and the service from the management team. Not a 4* property at best it should be a 3*

The room was ok but it was very dusty and as I have a dust allergy I had to go buy some wipes and clean myself so it’s done properly. It’s not the dustiest place I’ve stayed but more attention was needed in certain areas. Bed was not comfortable, it was hard and could feel the springs. I had the room with separate bathroom, which was clean but no pressure in the shower spoilt that for me. It literally dripped out. Don’t think I’d stay again to be honest.

We stayed at the Manor House for two nights. It is a beautiful old building, which has been thoughfully modernised inside. Our room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom had a good shower, with plenty of hot water. It was also surprisingly quiet, for being in a town, with the occasional call of a pair of tawny owls. The staff were absolutely great, and very efficiently with their service. Breakfast was superb, with a menu to suit everyone. Don't be put off by the hotel not serving evening meals, as there are plenty of eating options in the immediate area. The closest being the gastro pub, which is next door. I have no doubt that we will be staying here again.
