You definitely need a car here, but it's secure and quiet. It's nothing fancy, but a good clean, comfortable budget choice.

We had a good stay at the ibis Amboise, . The hotel is very good located, 5 min away of the city center with big parking. The room was good too. The breakfast was fantastic for the price and the food. I will stay again.

Booked through Expedia and paid upfront, showed receipt on arrival but staff insisted that we needed to put a credit card on file and they would ‘hold’ the full amount again, which we did. A few days later the full payment came out of the credit card again, spoke to Expedia who said they couldn’t understand the people on reception but would try to look into it - even after sending both sets of receipts. Still haven’t got a refund for the overpayment and not sure I will.
As a side note, I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again anyway. We’ve stayed at plenty of Ibis, this is without a doubt the worst. Shower directly in the room with a half glass door separating it from the bedroom, awful damp smell… on the plus side the surrounding area is lovely.

Room was comfy enough to sleep overnight to get ready for next day. Has everything you need and hot shower was working well with good water pressure. The toilet feels like the one you use in airplane.
Otherwise good location and free parking was great :)

A bit out the way, which was not a problem for us. No shops or restaurants nearby, or even close. No access to the microwave in the lobby, it was off limits. Like all Ibis budget rooms, space is very limited. There are a few hooks on the wall and no space to open a case, without putting it on the bed. It was very quiet.
Our room had a good view over the town and the Amboise Royale Chateau.

The room was extremely small for 3 people, there was no separate bathroom area, the shower door opened right into the room, so when stepping in and out of shower, one did not get much privacy. Customer service at the reception was nice, the hotel itself was quite far away from the old town

The service was not very good og helpful. In the end she phoned for some take away as my French is not up to it.
The room was very barren. On our second day it was full of small flies.
The hotel was far from centre of town without really indicating this on the webside. We came by train and the walk was loooong.
the breakfast was quite good.

It was a one night stay on our way to Bordeaux. Since it's Ibis Budget we don't expect much but it might be better if it was cleaner. The room provided to us has a terrible smell so we asked for change and the lady at reception has changed our room. She could just barely speak English so we had a little issue communicating but she was trying to help in the end.

Probably what you should expect for the money. But I certainly didn’t expect most of the room to be covered in tiny flies the next morning, despite there being no windows open. There is clearly a cleanliness issue here- the table in particular was covered in hundreds of them. Either eggs having hatched or an air con problem.
Breakfast is very overpriced for mostly packaged items.
