The property is perched high up, some 120 steps up from the harbour. If you don’t feel like carrying your own luggage you can hire the service of a local mule for 20 euros. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable recommending local restaurants. Our room (201) was situated at the end where of the building overlooking the harbour. We had a terrace at the rear to sit and enjoy a glass of wine but this did not have a view. Our shower doors were missing but this was not an issue.s the beds were very comfortable and the hotel was very clean all round. A number of options for the continental breakfast were offered including scrambled eggs and bacon which was bonus. The clock tower strikes at the hour and half hour throughout the day but ceases at 10pm and restarts at 6am! That was a bit of shock after the first night! Access to good waking along the coast of Hydra and island day hoping should you want to. We think you’d exhaust all attractions in 2 days but just watching the yachts in the harbour passes the time.

Excellent hotel with very friendly staff. Comfortable beds and room. Very clean. Good breakfast. View from the hotel is lovely. Be aware that there are about 130 stairs from port to hotel! We had to climb them 3 or so times a day, and the first day with suitcases, unless you rent a donkey for 20euro.

Great stay at Hydra hotel. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, delicious breakfast and lovely staff - thank you Daphne and Anastasia ❤️. There are many steps (100 apparently) to get to the hotel from town so not recommended if mobility is an issue. Daphne assured us it got easier each time!

First off, the property is NOT an hotel despite the name. It is an apartment/guesthouse. The friendly manager is there only in the afternoons and early evenings. There is a pleasant but very simple self-serve breakfast in a small patio area. Rooms are nice with small bathrooms and daily housekeeping is fine. The other major drawback is the number of steps required to reach the place which is not made clear in the description or website. The property is not suitable for older guests or anyone who is not happy about climbing a lot (approximately 100) of steps to reach the place and go back down to the port area where all the shops and restaurants are located. The place does arrange a guy with a mule to carry your luggage up and down for 20 euros each way but people have to walk. Hydra is charming and quiet with some rocky coves. More of a town experience than a beach holiday.

The hotel was too expensive for location. They called the day before to arrange luggage transfer by donkey costing us 20E. We were told there were 100 steps up to hotel. The donkey carried our luggage which was best 20E spent. We walked or it would be 40E…but any time during visit that you wanted to go to room, you climbed 100 steps and that did not count the walkways that had steps but were 3’ apart so a bit more gradual but still uphill. Our room and bathroom were nice and breakfast made to order was delicious but hotel should not have been this expensive for inconvenience of location.

The staff at Hydra hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful. I was in room 201 with spectacular corner views of the port and was right next to the breakfast area with its own outdoor area. Unless you are carrying a light weight bag, just plan on hiring the donkey transportation to the hotel. I carried my heavy bad myself, having not understood how many steps there actually were and would not recommend it! I highly recommend Hydra Hotel for its kind staff, beautiful aesthetics, and insane views!

Not recommended for someone who is not up to the climb, the hotel, situated some distance up from the harbor, was wonderful for us. The location made the stay quieter, and the view lovelier. Mule transport (15 euros each way) made getting luggage in and out reasonably painless. The rooms were beautiful. We are not given to relaxing in hotel rooms much, but the wonderful ambience made us very happy to hang out there. The breakfast was great and the staff vary helpful.

Loved the quietness of the island which made sleeping excellent. We had a room with a balcony (not many here) and enjoyed sitting, looking over the harbour and enjoying a glass or two of wine. The breakfast was served in a quaint dining area and had a great selection of items to eat. Will definitely come back here again.
