The room I stayed in was lovely, only stayed there for one night,breakfast was great, all staff were very friendly and helpful, l will definitely stay there again,

The pool view was very nice. La Heliconia is close to the airport, so the view of part of the runway is quite nice, plus the view of the Caribbean Sea was also visible, though far away. Vegetation around the hotel is quite nice as well.

La Heliconia is a home away from home. The owner is professional and accommodating and staff are friendly and courteous

Clean room

Upon entering the room we were greeted with an awful awful smell in the bedroom/bathroom area. Was told the sewage was cleaned earlier in the day and being the hotel was booked no other available rooms to accommodate our party. The lady who I assume was the manager apologized. Went back to the room and saw a few roaches. I then went back to the front desk and told the lady that they are roaches as well. I was then told we will be moved to another room poolside for the night due to arriving guess the next day. The lady assured us that the smell wil be gone and the room will be clean. The next day we were told our room is cleaned and ready to move back in. When we got there the smell was gone. The next 3 days we kept seeing small and medium roaches different parts of the rooms to which we killed each time with the insecticide spray that we purchased on the second day. We were located on the ground floor surrounded by trees. At nights, no lights or censor lights in that area for us to see properly especially when returning to our room. We had a bushy view at the side of the bedroom windows. From my observations and returning hours later each day, it seems the room wasn’t cleaned properly. The beds were made up but the floors were not swept properly nor mopped. Ordered breakfast and food arrived cold. I politely asked the waiter/chef ( who does both) if my food can be heated up? My overal stay was a disappointment, especially when I saw 8 stars and good reviews.

I did not receive the superior room with an ocean view that I booked and paid for. When I arrived, they said there were no other rooms left. The room that I had was noisy (seemed next to the kitchen), lacked dish soap, and the soap and shampoo in the shower were not labeled so I did not know which is which. Since I’ve been coming to this hotel 15 years, I was disappointed.

Lady at the front was very nice, the room was horrible, it was never clean the shower omg!! And there where cockroaches ewww. They didn’t had laundry like they said they did. And couldn’t find anyone to talk to after 5. It was nothing like it was on line.

This was the worst hotel stay of my life. I was placed in a down stairs room with the cafeteria and reception above my head. Every morning I woke every morning, with either the staff or other guests dragging chairs across the cement floor which echoed in a room and woke me up way earlier than I needed to be. Breakfast is included not worth the money?One of the items is canned beans. The staff was marginal and somewhat helpful. Although not empowered by the owner to resolve most common problems. The knob on my shower control broke off in my hands. It took the hotel 4 days to fix the problem, which meant I did not shower for 4 days after repeated complaints. The facility itself is outdated and needs to be remodeled. My room was infested with cockroaches, the size of my thumb. After showing a video and complaining, I was told that the hotel would take care of it. By the time if ever, they addressed the cockroach and the shower issue, I had already checked out. The location is great adjacent to the airport and a lovely beach called magazine. The beds were comfortable if you could get past the cockroaches. Shower pressure in the bathrooms was sufficient.If you could get past the rust stains on the wall. Customer service at this facility is less than expected.Once you have checked out, the hotel makes no effort to assist you in any manner.Whether it's a taxi baggage storage, nothing. Room was good

The room was clean and accommodating. I reserved an ocean level room but was placed in a ground floor room. During the day the water was off and i could not take a shower. Otherwise quiet place.
