Hotel Resol Hakodate

An easy to find hotel. Not far from the railway station. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely common area with free drinks available. Room small as per Japan rooms. Sufficient amenities in the room for a few days stay. Tram stop close by. Good laundry available to use for a reasonable price. Games area upstairs for guests. Restaurant for breakfast ok. Dining options are plentiful near by. Wifi good.

Safe and convenient place

It was an old hotel but clean. We even have a big window with the view. Steps away from the stations, the morning market and lots of stores and dining around. We will stay here again.

The breakfast is very good.

Staff was very nice, polite and friendly

The hotel is conveniently located to Hakodate train station as well as the tram stop. Breakfast was excellent even if limited options. The juices were fresh and rich tasting. There were unexpected seafood options such as grilled scallops on my first morning and tuna (maguro) sashimi on my second morning in addition to other Japanese breakfast staples. What was surprising was that sake (!) and ice cream was also available. I would have given the hotel a 5 stars rating if not for the fact the bed had ONE pillow! The first time ever staying at a hotel that did not provide two even if there was only one guest.

Driving into the hotel can be a bit tricky due the lane directions but otherwise you can go to the front of the hotel along the tram side of the road. The parking is found on the other side, note that there is a height restriction for the car park tower.

The Hotel Resol is very close to the Hakodate train station, several restaurants, and convenience stores, and one of the many street car stops this city is known for. From my room, I could see the famous Tomoe bridge and Train Ferry Memorial Museum but I'm sure rooms higher up than mine had an even more beautiful view. To the south of the property is the gorgeous Mt. Hakodate, and if you're the kind of person who can easily walk 2 kilometers or so, the ropeway that takes travelers to the top of that mountain is more or less at the end of the street, and well worth the walk. The room was spacious for what I paid, and very clean. The staff were also very friendly, letting me check in a little bit earlier than the posted check in time. I would definitely consider staying here again the next time I have the opportunity to visit the area.

My room was nice and roomy.

Close to JR Hakodate station and tram at front door too. Comfortable bed, good laundry and guest area. However walls are thin so I could hear my next door neighbours and the hotel music playing in the hallway can also be heard in the room. Otherwise good value hotel in Hakodate.

Very close to train station and convenience store. Walking distance to many tourist attractions. Nice spacious room.

The first floor lounge featured many free drinks (soft drinks, coffee, etc) and was a nice place to sit and do research for our travels. The hotel is easy walking distance to the seaside markets/restaurants.

Good location and good amenities

The hotel was excellent. They provided everything we needed. We played Ping Pong and Pool table during stay. Location was great. Just 3-5 mins from JR station. The staff were helpful and very polite. We had great time in this hotel.

Air conditioning is turned off in fall and winter so you need to open the window for air. I got a room facing the street with tram running every few minutes and motorcycle reviving all night til around 1 am.
