Hulu Chuchoh is a semi-developed village located in Sepang district, Selangor, Malaysia. Generally, Hulu Chuchoh involved in commercial agricultural sector such as coffee, palm oil and rubber plantations.

According to history, the name Hulu Chuchoh is derived from the word ‘cucoh’ that means fighting in the aborigine language who have been settling there. Around the 1920s, it was said that two of the clan’s shamans, namely Batin Lipat and Batin Bolos were fighting when they were in the middle of crossing the Small Sepang River to the lower side or ‘hulu’ of the river. Hence, the name Hulu Chuchoh is referring to the ‘hulu’ side where the ‘cucoh’ is taking place.

How to Get There

By Car

Hulu Chuchoh is located around 60 km from Kuala Lumpur and approximately 35 km from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Guests may hail a taxi from either Kuala Lumpur or KLIA to get to Hulu Chuchoh.

People driving from Kuala Lumpur may use the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) Highway following the signs towards Sepang to reach Hulu Chuchoh.

By Train

Other option is to take the Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Intercity train to Nilai station. From there, visitors may take the local Sepang omnibus or hail a taxi to reach Hulu Chuchoh.

Within close proximity to Sepang and Putrajaya, visitors to Hulu Chuchoh are drawn to spend time in many tourist attractions such as the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), Bagan Lalang Beach, various parks and monuments in Putrajaya such as the Putrajaya lake, Putra Square, Putra Mosque, Wetlands Park, Botanical Park, Gemilang Square and many more.

Banghuris is a short form of the combination of three villages, namely Kampung Bukit Bangkung, Kampung Hulu Chuchoh and Kampung Hulu Teris. These three villages work together in forming Banghuris Homestay programme that offers visitors to experience various traditional lifestyle involved in these locations.

Activities available include visiting a coffee plantation to witness the coffee making processes using traditional tools, visiting the palm oil and rubber plantations, fishing at the pond, a tour of the cottage industry factories such as the chips, frozen food and handicrafts.

Local famous delicacies in Hulu Chuchoh is the ‘mentarang’ or duck mouth clam which is usually grilled with chillies. Participating in the Banghuris Homestay programme lets the visitors to savour the taste of traditional Malay cooking in kenduri ‘gotong-royong’ style, a feast provided after certain community gathering social work like cleaning the community hall.

During the evening, it is best to have a seafood dinner at the nearby Bagan Lalang Beach.
