Overview of GS Hotel

Nestled within the vibrant township of Kota Damansara, GS Hotel offers a comfortable and affordable 3-star stay in one of Petaling Jaya's most well-connected neighbourhoods. Situated at The Strand Damansara along Jalan PJU 5/20C, this 150-room property caters to budget-conscious travellers, business visitors, and families alike. Whether you are in the Klang Valley for work or leisure, GS Hotel provides a practical base with easy access to major shopping centres, universities, and public transport links that connect you seamlessly to the rest of Greater Kuala Lumpur.

What sets GS Hotel apart from other budget properties in the area is its combination of modern essentials and genuine hospitality. Every room is fitted with air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, a flat-screen television, and a private bathroom — amenities that ensure a pleasant stay without stretching your budget. The hotel operates a round-the-clock front desk staffed by a multilingual team, so whether you arrive on a late-night flight or need assistance planning your day, there is always someone ready to help. Daily housekeeping keeps rooms fresh and tidy throughout your stay, and the property's full-day security team provides added peace of mind.

The surrounding Kota Damansara area is a thriving hub of eateries, cafés, and retail options, meaning guests at GS Hotel are never short of things to do or places to explore. The Strand itself is home to a lively collection of restaurants and coffee shops, while major malls such as The Strand Mall and Sunway Giza are all within comfortable walking distance. For nature enthusiasts, the Kota Damansara Community Forest Park offers a refreshing escape into lush greenery just a short drive from the hotel. It is this blend of convenience, comfort, and locality that makes GS Hotel a smart choice for travellers seeking value in Petaling Jaya.

Room Types at GS Hotel

GS Hotel features four distinct room categories, each designed to accommodate different travel needs. All rooms come equipped with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, an electric kettle, a work desk, free toiletries, a hairdryer, a telephone, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. Private bathrooms are fitted with a bidet and finished with tiled flooring for a clean, practical feel. Below is a closer look at each room type available at the property.

Standard Single Room

The Standard Single Room at GS Hotel is an ideal pick for solo travellers who want a no-fuss, comfortable space to rest. Measuring approximately 15 square metres, the room is compact yet thoughtfully arranged to maximise functionality. It features a single bed with quality linens, a dedicated work desk for catching up on emails or planning itineraries, and a seating area where guests can relax after a long day. The private en-suite bathroom includes essential toiletries and hot water. This room type is best suited for one guest and strikes the perfect balance between affordability and comfort, making it a popular option among business travellers and backpackers passing through Kota Damansara.

Standard Queen Room

Stepping up slightly in size, the Standard Queen Room spans roughly 16 square metres and is centred around a queen-sized bed. This room is well suited for couples or solo travellers who prefer a bit more sleeping space. The layout mirrors the clean, modern aesthetic found throughout GS Hotel, with neutral tones and practical furnishings. Guests will find the same essential amenities — air conditioning, flat-screen TV, electric kettle, and work desk — along with a private bathroom stocked with complimentary toiletries. The Standard Queen Room accommodates up to two guests comfortably and offers excellent value for those seeking a restful night's sleep without paying a premium.

Deluxe Queen Room

The Deluxe Queen Room at GS Hotel also covers approximately 16 square metres but comes with upgraded touches that elevate the overall guest experience. Built around a queen-sized bed with plush bedding, this room category is designed for travellers who appreciate a higher standard of in-room comfort. Enhanced furnishings, a more generous seating arrangement, and refined décor details distinguish the Deluxe Queen from its Standard counterpart. Like all rooms in the hotel, it includes air conditioning, a flat-screen television, an electric kettle for preparing hot beverages, a work desk, and a well-appointed private bathroom. The Deluxe Queen Room is ideal for couples or solo travellers looking for a slightly more polished stay during their time in Petaling Jaya.

Family Room

Recognising that families have distinct accommodation needs, GS Hotel offers dedicated Family Rooms that provide additional space and flexibility. These rooms are configured to sleep multiple guests comfortably, making them a practical choice for parents travelling with children or small groups exploring the Klang Valley together. The Family Room includes all the standard amenities — air conditioning, flat-screen TV, electric kettle, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a private bathroom — with the added benefit of extra floor space and bedding arrangements suited to families. For guests travelling with young children, the hotel's family-friendly approach and central Kota Damansara location, close to attractions like KidZania and the Chocolate Museum, make the Family Room a particularly appealing option.

Facilities and Amenities

Despite its budget-friendly positioning, GS Hotel delivers a solid range of facilities that meet the expectations of modern travellers. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the entire property, ensuring guests can stay connected whether they are working from their room or lounging in the lobby. The hotel is equipped with a lift, providing easy access to all floors — a convenience that is especially appreciated by guests with heavy luggage or those travelling with young families.

Parking is available on-site for guests who are driving, which is a significant advantage given the hotel's location along The Strand in Kota Damansara. Motorists will appreciate the ease of pulling up to the property without having to search for parking in the surrounding area. The 24-hour front desk is staffed by a friendly, multilingual team who can assist with everything from local recommendations to arranging transportation. Express check-in and check-out services are also offered, catering to business travellers and those on tight schedules who want to minimise wait times.

Daily housekeeping ensures that every room is kept spotless, with fresh linens and towels provided regularly. The property also maintains full-day security coverage, giving guests confidence that their safety is a priority. While GS Hotel does not feature a swimming pool or fitness centre — as is typical of 3-star hotels in this price category — its focus on delivering clean, well-maintained rooms and dependable service more than compensates. The hotel's strength lies in getting the essentials right: reliable air conditioning, hot water, fast Wi-Fi, and a responsive front desk team.

Location and Getting There

GS Hotel enjoys a strategic position at 18, Jalan PJU 5/20C, The Strand Damansara, 47810 Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The hotel is located in the heart of Kota Damansara, one of Petaling Jaya's most dynamic and well-developed townships. Getting to and from the hotel is straightforward, thanks to its proximity to multiple major roads and public transport connections.

The nearest MRT station is Surian MRT Station on the MRT Kajang Line, situated approximately 950 metres from the hotel — roughly a 14-minute walk. From Surian Station, guests can travel directly to key destinations across Kuala Lumpur, including KL Sentral, Bukit Bintang, and Muzium Negara, without needing to change lines. Several bus routes, including the 780, T807, and T808 services, also stop near The Strand, offering additional public transport options for getting around the Klang Valley.

For guests arriving by air, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is approximately 60 kilometres from GS Hotel, with the journey by car or ride-hailing service taking around 50 minutes depending on traffic conditions. The fare for a Grab ride from KLIA to Kota Damansara typically starts from approximately RM 70 to RM 90. Alternatively, travellers can take the KLIA Ekspres to KL Sentral and then connect via the MRT to Surian Station for a more budget-friendly option.

The hotel's location also places guests within easy reach of several popular landmarks and attractions. The Strand Mall and Sunway Giza Mall are both within walking distance, while larger retail destinations such as The Curve, 1 Utama Shopping Centre, and IPC Shopping Centre are all less than a 10-minute drive away. Families will enjoy the proximity to KidZania and the Chocolate Museum Kuala Lumpur, while nature lovers can head to the Kota Damansara Community Forest Park for a morning hike. SEGi University Kota Damansara is also nearby, making GS Hotel a practical choice for visiting academics and parents attending university events.

Dining at GS Hotel

One of the greatest advantages of staying at GS Hotel is the sheer abundance of dining options right on its doorstep. The Strand Damansara precinct is a well-known food destination in Kota Damansara, home to a diverse array of restaurants, cafés, and eateries serving everything from local Malaysian fare to international cuisine. Guests will find that stepping out of the hotel lobby places them within moments of a satisfying meal at any hour of the day.

For breakfast, guests can explore several nearby cafés that open early in the morning. The One Cafe, located within The Strand, serves breakfast items from as early as 8.00 am, making it a convenient option for an energising start to the day. Those looking for a more relaxed brunch atmosphere might enjoy Cafe Studio, known for its creative dishes and eye-catching interior design. For lunch and dinner, Soru Station is a neighbourhood favourite, offering generous portions of both local and international dishes at wallet-friendly prices. Kuppi and Sekut Caffe is another popular choice, serving a mix of Western and Asian cuisines that appeal to a broad range of palates.

Beyond The Strand, the wider Kota Damansara area is a foodie paradise. Hawker stalls, mamak restaurants, and kopitiams are scattered throughout the township, ensuring that budget-conscious travellers always have access to flavourful, affordable meals. For a more unique dining experience, Shellout offers a hands-on seafood feast where diners eat with their bare hands directly off the table. With so many culinary options within walking distance, guests at GS Hotel will find that eating well during their stay requires no effort at all.

Why Stay at GS Hotel

Unbeatable location in Kota Damansara. GS Hotel is positioned right within The Strand Damansara, surrounded by shops, restaurants, and everyday conveniences. Whether you need to grab a quick bite, pick up essentials from a nearby convenience store, or explore the vibrant Kota Damansara township, everything is at your fingertips. The proximity to Surian MRT Station also means that central Kuala Lumpur is just a train ride away.

Excellent value for money. As a well-maintained 3-star property with 150 rooms, GS Hotel delivers comfort and cleanliness at a price point that appeals to budget-conscious travellers. Every room comes with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom — essentials that some competing hotels in the area charge extra for. For travellers who prefer to spend their ringgit on experiences rather than accommodation, GS Hotel is a sensible choice.

Family-friendly accommodation. The availability of dedicated Family Rooms sets GS Hotel apart from many other budget hotels in Petaling Jaya. Families travelling with children will appreciate the extra space, the lift access throughout the building, and the hotel's proximity to family-oriented attractions such as KidZania and the Chocolate Museum. The 24-hour front desk and daily housekeeping add further convenience for parents managing the logistics of travelling with little ones.

Connected to major attractions and business hubs. Whether your trip is for business or leisure, GS Hotel's location provides quick access to key destinations. SEGi University, major shopping malls, and corporate offices in the Damansara corridor are all within a short drive, while the MRT network connects guests to Kuala Lumpur's city centre in under 30 minutes. This dual appeal makes GS Hotel a versatile option for a wide range of travellers.

Reliable service and security. With round-the-clock front desk coverage, daily housekeeping, and full-day security, GS Hotel ensures that guests feel looked after throughout their stay. The multilingual staff can assist with directions, transport arrangements, and local recommendations, adding a personal touch that enhances the overall experience.

Tips for Booking GS Hotel

Book early for the best rates. GS Hotel is a popular choice among both domestic and international visitors to Kota Damansara, so availability can be limited during peak travel seasons, public holidays, and major events at nearby venues. To secure the best rates, consider booking your stay on Traveloka at least two to three weeks in advance. Last-minute bookings may still be possible, but early reservations typically unlock lower prices and a wider selection of room types.

Choose the right room for your needs. Solo travellers looking to save should opt for the Standard Single Room, which provides all the essentials at the most accessible price point. Couples will find great comfort in the Standard Queen or Deluxe Queen rooms, with the latter offering a slightly more refined experience. If you are travelling as a family, request the Family Room at the time of booking to ensure availability — these rooms are limited and tend to be booked quickly, especially during school holiday periods.

Take advantage of Traveloka promotions. Keep an eye on Traveloka's flash sales, seasonal campaigns, and exclusive app-only deals, which can offer significant savings on your stay at GS Hotel. Combining a Traveloka coupon code with an early booking can result in exceptional value. It is also worth checking whether bundling your hotel stay with flights or airport transfers yields additional discounts through Traveloka's package deals.

Plan your arrival time wisely. Standard check-in at GS Hotel begins at 14:00, with check-out by 12:00 the following day. If you anticipate arriving earlier than the check-in time, it is advisable to contact the hotel in advance to enquire about early check-in availability. Similarly, if you need a late check-out for a midday flight or meeting, asking ahead of time increases your chances of securing an extension, though this is subject to room availability on the day.

Use the MRT for city exploration. Rather than relying solely on ride-hailing services, take advantage of the nearby Surian MRT Station to explore Kuala Lumpur affordably and efficiently. The MRT Kajang Line connects directly to major city-centre stops, and a single trip typically costs from approximately RM 2 to RM 5 depending on your destination. This is an excellent way to visit popular attractions such as Bukit Bintang, Merdeka Square, and the Petronas Twin Towers without worrying about traffic congestion or parking fees.

[Please do not make reservations at this illegal hotel] ] Don't be fooled by the staff's smile. When I visited at night, he deliberately guided me to make reservations on the online platform. However, after I made a reservation in here, he told to me that there was no room and I needed to pay charge RM20 price to upgrade the room, but the published price difference was RM10. Later, he said I had to pay a tourist tax of 10RM, and the final price was RM98. When I expressed that I didn't want to check in, he offered to help me handle the refund, but he just took my phone and pretended to do it. When I took the phone back and saw that I couldn't get a refund, he kept saying it was a problem with the platform. In the middle of the trip, he called boss several times (he maybe is the boss's son), deliberately not letting me answer the phone or helping me solve the problem. In the end, I had no choice but to check in, which took more than an hour. The room was small and dirty, three quarters of it was taken up by the bed, and there were no windows. Even the quilt and pillow were wet. The floor was dirty and there were no slippers. When I woke up the next day, I was bitten by bugs and it was very itchy. When I checked out, I asked the staff who checked the room if I drank the mineral water in the room. Because that is an additional charge and a hidden charge. And another staff at the front desk didn't want to refund my deposit. I wasn't the first tourist to have a similar experience. He said at the time that there was another person who had the same problem as me before I checked in. Since he was already very emotional in the end and I was just a layover, I gave up the idea of calling the police.

The moment I entered the hotel, the smell of cigarette smoke overwhelmed me. I booked a non-smoking room, and reiterated to the counter that I wanted a non-smoking room. I was still given a super stinky smoking room on Level 1 with ashtray. The whole night I was suffering from a blocked and itchy nose due to cigarette smell and couldn't sleep well. The toilet seat was also not cleaned after the previous tenant and had dried urine stains. The ceiling and walls also had cobwebs and bag worms. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

I booked for 1 large bed 1 small bed from your websites, the counter then says your website indicated the wrong room title. Superior double is just a double bed, the one with 2 beds to fit 3 guests named as Triplet room. Your CS team should communicate with this hotel to make sure people get what they booked for.

Poor hygiene. Went into the room and saw a used toothbrush and toothpaste on the sink. Condom wrapper on the sheets. Toilet bidet no head only hose. Electric kettle but no power point, only power point beside bed. How to expect me to boil water on the bed? Saw a big blackish lizard on the wall before I sleep and all sort of noise at night. Sheet has questionable stains.
