In Sibu, Sarawak there is an Indoor Stadium. It is located at Old Airport Road, Sibu. The construction began on 20th June 2014 by the Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh. The construction was completed on 2nd April 2016. The government made a soft opening on 11th July 2016. The ceremony was officiated by the State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
This stadium has eight badminton courts together with a basketball court, two volleyball courts. They also have a two-lane jogging track and a grandstand with a seating capacity that can accommodate up to 4250 people at a time. As for the parking space, it has 479 parking bays for cars, 89 bays for motorcycles and 16 bays for stagecoaches.
Some of the events that were previously held here are the 2016 Sukma Games for the game of Badminton, 2017 Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold, 2017 AGE Convention and also the 2017 Borneo International Martial Art Tournament.
For those from Kuala Lumpur, one can always take a flight to go to Sibu city. Some of the flights that make their way there is Air Asia which can be boarded at KLIA 2. The cost during low peak season can be as low as RM50.
If one were to come to this stadium from Kuching, they can always drive using the Samarahan Expressway. From the expressway, one can take the exit at Jalan Tun Hussein Onn to make their way to the stadium. It will take around 6 hours and 29 minutes to get to the stadium.
