Room is small but cozy.. Air con is cold. It'a so nice because malacca is hot.. Receptionist very friendly and helpful. Stay there is like stay at home.

The owner is friendly and the place is simple and good enough for the price paid.

A comfortable place with hygiene up on par. The staff/owner is very friendly and amiable. I was booking a single room and the owner gave me a double room upon seeing my many luggage without any extra charge. Many things is negotiable and accommodating. After all, it is a good place to stay if you are looking for a cheap, clean and friendly staffed lodging. Besides that its WiFi is not bad and it is within walking distance from Kampung Kling Mosque, St Paul's Church, A Famosa, Jonker street, Dataran Pahlawan and Makhota Parade. But, alas, every rose has its thorn, there is no complimentary water bottle and it is a little bit noisy which I believe is due to the bustle of Jonker street (only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night). But all this downsides is negligible as what more can you expect for the price. It is actually better than what should be possible at this price. Will definitely come next time. A big thumbs- up to the staff/owner.

I booked a single room. Funny though, they didn't have any picture of it when I booked. Only a picture of the common bath. When I got there, I was upgraded to a double room at the first floor. It's a 2-story building. If you have fear of tight spaces, this might not be the best place for you. They close their gates at 7PM so be sure to call them if you are planning on a late check-in. They will give you a key once you're booked so don't worry there is no curfew so you can come back from your stroll even after past midnight. They provide a shampoo and a hand wash in the toilet but I suggest you also bring your own. Although I didn't ask since I already have one, I didn't get any complimentary drinks/water. The host is nice although a bit vain with his pics all over the place. They have keyless doors so always bring you card even when going to the toilet. If you need water, there's a dispenser just outside the place. The small alley beside the place has art on the wall so in can be a bit noisy during the day if you are going to sleep in. The window in the room where I stayed was broken so mosquitoes can come in but I just secure the small curtain so it's blocked. So going back to the upgrade, I'm not sure if they really do have a single room. Best bet is to book a single room since it's cheaper if you are going with a friend and they might upgrade you to a double room since the single room probably doesn't exist.

This motel makes me feel like at home. The owner's service is very good.

Hopefully in future , there is friendlier service provided other than seeing customer's mistakes as hassle

No officers stand by, it is very difficult, especially when checking in and out, then Had to open the door every time Dan mengnci will exit and enter the inn.

Need to make the window soundproof
The place wasn't far from Jonker street. The owner was friendly. But the room was smaller then expected, my friend and I shared a luggage and that 1 luggage literally took half of the empty space, I suggest you to clean up the space before you sleep if you don't want to step on your things in the middle of the night or in the morning. My room was at the ground floor, the other side of the room was a street gallery and tourist tends to visit the place, the window wasn't sound proof and I couldn't sleep any later than 9am because it was too noisy from the outside on the day time

Really need to change the Laundry signage.
Okay I'm only commenting on the laundry service here. The signage outside/inside gives the impression that the hotel has a 24 hour self service laundry. It hasn't and I found the young guy who ran it a bit off hand (maybe he was having a bad day), clothes though were returned clean and on the same day - no complaints there. I would just say it's probably helpful in future to let people know you won't be there 24/7 and maybe take into account when it's torrential rain people may be a bit reluctant to come out and pick up nice, clean dry clothes.

Budget Motel, Friendly owner, Convenient, Get what you Pay!
Now named the Monkey Motel. The place is a little tough to locate if you are going for the old name. Place is located on Jalan Kasturi off the Jonker Street. My room was very spartan. But then again, I only 10 dollars for it. It was just a small room with a queen bed and very little space other than that. The bathrooms were not attached. Overall, the room the was clean and so were the bathrooms. The facility was also quite clean as I felt no problems in leaving my laptop in the room. The hotel locks down after 10PM, but the owner gives you a key to the main door. No problems at all. I was travelling alone so it was quite convenient and suited my budget. The location is very good and you close to all places of interest. Do check out the nightlife around. It is quite interesting.

Now known as Monkey Moel & Cafe
I like how convient the inn is located. Just a few seconds walk away from most of the attractions in melaka city. The owner is friendly and he even helped me in giving directions to the bus-stop to Melaka sentral. There's air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and 24h laundromat. There's also movie-screening on certain evenings. Shared bathrooms. You'll be given two keys - keycard for your room door and keys to the cafe main-gate lock for you to access after-hours (there's no 24h reception). The issues that I had was soundproofing and cleanliness. Yes, you have to take-off your shoes insde the motel (shoe rack provided.)

Friendly owner, convenient facility
I have stayed in this inn twice. It is located in Jonker Street, getting around Jonker Street is easy. We were given 2 keys (one for the room, one for the main entrance) because we need to open/lock the door ourselves at night. I think the safety there is ok as there's a cafe that open until midnight on the same street, so if there's anything happen we can call for help easily. The room is simple, just bed complimented with a standing coat hanger, 2 plug points (which is more than sufficient for a room). Air cond is cooling enough. There's a small window so you can choose to open it if you need ventilation. Overall ventilation of the room is good, we did not open the window at all. We like the decorations in the common area, it's very artsy. There are benches at ground floor & second floor for people to hang out. There's a water dispenser outside the inn which sells RM0.20 per liter, very convenient. And there's a self-laundry room with washing machine & dryer. However, the door lock is knob-type which I think can be easily swiped open with a card, theft cases can easily happen, so we make sure our valuables are not in the room when we left the room. And the sharing bathroom is very small, & the wall is not clean & yellowish (floor & toilet bowls are clean) & the paint on the wall is peeling off, but for a 1 star guesthouse this is not bothering me. The owner is quiet but friendly. Overall this inn is value for the price.
