It is a place of historical significance. Although there is nothing much to see here, it had been the main place in the island with vast stretches of paddy fields. The then chief of Langkawi Army, Dato Kemboja sent a messenger to Padang Matsirat and ordered the villagers were collected and burnt during the war between Siam and Langkawi.

Langkawi Night Market -

There are night markets being held every day of the week. The markets take place in prominent locations such as Padang Mat Sirat, Kuah and Pantai Cenang. There are stalls along a stretch of road, selling all kinds of goods. It starts from 5pm until late at night. You can find various local food at a very reasonable price.
