Discover More About Rocky Farm

Overview of Rocky Farm

Rocky Farm is a small farm-style property in Taman Pulai Jaya, on the southern side of Ipoh in the Kinta district of Perak, and its garden and barbecue facilities set the tone for a stay here. Rather than a lobby-and-lift city hotel, it is the kind of place where the outdoor space is part of the reason to book: Traveloka's listing groups both the garden and the barbecue under the property's activity facilities, which makes it a natural fit for families and small groups who want to spend an evening grilling together instead of heading out to a restaurant.

The property is a recent addition to Ipoh's accommodation scene. According to Traveloka's listing data, it was built in 2022, and it carries a 3-star classification. It is also a compact operation, with 8 rooms in total, so it is closer in scale to a guesthouse or private retreat than to a conventional hotel. The listing also notes that the property was previously listed under the name Rocky Farm Ipoh, so travellers who have seen that older name on earlier bookings or social posts are looking at the same place.

The full address is Lot 14884 Dat Pulai Jaya 3, Taman Pulai Jaya, 31300 Ipoh, Kinta, Perak, Malaysia. On Traveloka, the property is classified as a non-standard accommodation type rather than a hotel, which matches its farm-stay character. Early guest reviews on the platform are positive, although the number of reviews is still small, so it is best treated as an early indicator rather than a long-run average.

Room Types at Rocky Farm

With only 8 rooms on site, Rocky Farm offers a limited inventory, and that shapes how you should approach booking. Traveloka's structured listing confirms the total room count but does not publish a fixed list of named room categories with bed sizes or floor areas in its property data, so this page does not name specific room types. The rooms shown when you search your dates on the Traveloka page are the authoritative source for what is actually available.

What the listing confirms

The property has 8 rooms, a standard check-in time from 15:00 and a check-out time before 12:00. Because the room count is small, the mix of available rooms can change quickly, particularly on weekends and school holidays when travellers from Kuala Lumpur, Penang and the rest of the northern region head to Ipoh for short breaks.

Checking in-room features

Traveloka's property-level data does not list specific in-room amenities for Rocky Farm, so features such as bed configuration, bathroom fittings, air conditioning or a television should be confirmed on the room cards for your chosen dates before you book. If a particular feature matters to you, for example space for an extra child or a specific bed layout, check the room description and policy notes on the listing, or contact the property through the booking details once your reservation is confirmed.

Booking for a group

A property of this size can suit a family gathering or a group of friends who want to take several rooms together. If you are planning that kind of stay, it is worth searching early and comparing how many rooms are available for your dates, since an 8-room property can fill up with a single large group.

Facilities and Amenities

Rocky Farm's facilities list on Traveloka is short and focused on the outdoors, which is consistent with its farm-stay setting. The confirmed facilities are:

  • Garden: listed among the property's activity facilities, giving guests outdoor space to relax in during the day.
  • Barbecue: also listed as an activity facility, and one of the main draws for groups planning an evening meal on site.
  • Parking: listed as a general facility, which is useful because most guests reach this part of Ipoh by car.
  • Medical service: listed under the property's hotel services; ask the property what this covers before you rely on it.

Other common facilities are not listed in Traveloka's facility data for this property, including Wi-Fi, a swimming pool, a restaurant and a 24-hour front desk. That does not necessarily mean they are absent, but it does mean you should not assume them. If an internet connection is important for remote work or streaming, confirm it with the property or check the latest room details on the listing before you travel.

For barbecue use in particular, it is sensible to ask in advance whether you need to bring your own food, charcoal and utensils, and whether the barbecue area needs to be reserved. Small properties often handle these arrangements informally, so a quick message after booking helps avoid surprises on arrival.

Location and Getting There

Rocky Farm is in Taman Pulai Jaya, a residential area south of Ipoh's city centre, within postcode 31300. This side of the city sits towards Simpang Pulai, the junction area that connects Ipoh with the road up to Cameron Highlands and with the North-South Expressway. That makes the property a practical base if you plan to combine Ipoh with a day trip into the highlands or further south along the Kinta Valley.

Most guests arrive by car. If you are driving from Kuala Lumpur or Penang, the North-South Expressway is the usual route into Ipoh, and parking is listed as available at the property. Without a car, e-hailing is the simplest option for the final stretch from central Ipoh, since public transport to residential neighbourhoods on the city's edge is limited.

  1. By rail: Ipoh Railway Station is served by KTM's ETS intercity trains on the west-coast line. From the station, a ride-hailing car is the easiest way to continue to Taman Pulai Jaya.
  2. By air: Ipoh has its own airport, Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, while many travellers fly into Kuala Lumpur and continue by road or rail. You can search for flights to Ipoh or Kuala Lumpur on Traveloka and plan the onward journey from there.
  3. By bus: Long-distance buses run to Ipoh from most major Peninsular Malaysia cities, after which e-hailing is the practical way to reach the property.

Within the wider Kinta area, popular sights include the cave temples set into Ipoh's limestone hills, the heritage streets of Ipoh Old Town and Kellie's Castle near Batu Gajah. Travel times depend heavily on traffic, so check a live map on the day rather than relying on fixed estimates.

Dining at and near Rocky Farm

Traveloka's facility data for Rocky Farm does not list an on-site restaurant or a breakfast service, so plan your meals accordingly. The listed barbecue facility is the main on-site option, and for many groups it is the highlight of the stay: an evening grilling in the garden is a different experience from eating out every night.

For everything else, Ipoh itself is one of Malaysia's best-known food cities, and the drive into town is short enough to make food trips easy. Dishes and drinks that visitors commonly seek out in Ipoh include:

  • Ipoh white coffee: the city's signature coffee style, served in traditional kopitiams across the old town.
  • Bean sprout chicken: poached chicken served with Ipoh's famously plump bean sprouts.
  • Hakka mee and curry noodles: staples of the city's hawker centres and coffee shops.
  • Dim sum breakfasts: a popular morning ritual in Ipoh, ideal before a day of sightseeing.

If you want to build your days around food and sights, you can browse things to do and attractions around Ipoh on Traveloka and plan meals around the places you visit. Opening hours for local eateries vary, and some popular breakfast spots close by early afternoon.

Why Stay at Rocky Farm

The strongest reason to choose Rocky Farm is the combination of small scale and outdoor space. With 8 rooms, the property never has the crowds of a large hotel, and the garden and barbecue facilities give groups somewhere to spend time together on site rather than splitting up between restaurants and rooms.

  • A recent build: the property was built in 2022, according to Traveloka's listing data.
  • Group-friendly outdoor facilities: a garden and barbecue are both listed, which suits family reunions and friends' weekends.
  • Car-friendly: parking is listed, which matters on the edge of the city where most guests arrive by car.
  • Well placed for the south of Ipoh: Taman Pulai Jaya is on the Simpang Pulai side of the city, handy for trips towards Cameron Highlands and the southern Kinta Valley.

It is less suited to travellers who want a full-service hotel with a restaurant, pool and round-the-clock reception, since none of those are listed. If that is what you need, you can compare other hotels in Ipoh on Traveloka, including larger properties in the city centre.

Tips for Booking Rocky Farm on Traveloka

  1. Book early for weekends: with only 8 rooms, availability can disappear quickly during school holidays, long weekends and festive periods.
  2. Check room details for your dates: the room cards on the listing are the authoritative source for bed layout, occupancy and in-room features.
  3. Plan your check-in time: check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is before 12:00, so plan sightseeing around those times.
  4. Ask about the barbecue in advance: confirm what is provided and whether you need to bring your own supplies.
  5. Confirm Wi-Fi if you need it: internet access is not listed among the facilities, so check before relying on it for work.
  6. Allow for tourism tax: Malaysia's tourism tax applies to non-Malaysian guests and is collected by the property at check-in, charged per room, per night.
  7. Read the cancellation terms: policies vary by rate, so check whether your chosen rate is refundable before paying.

A gem finally found here! What you would experience here is the serenity view of mountain backdrop, emerald lake (for fishing), beautiful landscaping and uniquely crafted home designs. Best stay for families and couples. A calm, peaceful and stress-free retreat. This is not your regular farm stay but a place without farm animals or vegetation. The place is clean, safe, and private.
