Great ambient and very friendly staff. Clean and great room as I upgrade my room. Fantastic pool and just beside is the ocean.

The room was spacious. pool also good. I recommend the management to have the breakfast buffet without aircond and let the ballroom open

The check in counter doesn't like a counter, no sign board at all, they also didn't inform us where is the breakfast location and time when check in, we need to find out ourselves. Staff not friendly at all, all showed us black face. The room is dirty, dirty sticky floor and the bed sheet detergent smell very strong. Sat breakfast still okay but Sunday breakfast the porridge was spoiled and sour taste, informed the waiter but he just ignored us. Totally bad experience with this resort, won't come back anymore.

Great place for family with kids and elders. Lot things to do, love the private beach, clean and clear water, white sandy. The breakfast not bad, but limited choice. Hope can vary malay cuisine. Overall good.

This is suppose to be my husband's birthday treat. 1. Upon check-in on 23 April, we found that patches of water - seems like the room was just make-up and the floor was not completely dry. Almost slip 2. In the evening, no connection on the TV channels, it was fixed by a technician but shortly after, the picture was interrupted. 3. Major disappointment - on 24 April my husband use the shower and the toilet is flooded due to poor drainage of water. He waited almost 10 minute for the water to drain out! I think we do not deserve such room and it spoiled the birthday vacation mood. Initially we intended to come again with the children but for now, we will drop the idea until the management do something about it. Thank you

Nice place but poor handling of drunks/noise
We have stayed at Tunamaya multiple times as we visit Desaru often for surfing. We have always had a pleasant stay, except for our most recent visit. Let’s start with the good things: friendly staff, big rooms, great views, newly renovated bathrooms and clean sheets (4*). Unfortunately all these don’t count for much if you’re not able to get any sleep (0*). Last weekend, we had the pleasure of having completely inconsiderate drunks for neighbours. Two of them came home drunk at 12am and wailed and banged on their room door to be let in. Their room mate didn’t respond. Finally at almost 2am, I could not take it anymore and called front desk. A security guard was dispatched and even when I could hear him outside, he did not stop the terrible banging and wailing that continued. Finally to solve the issue, they were let in via my room’s connector door with my permission. That took a while to get sorted and I was unhappy about the intrusion but I just wanted it solved so I could sleep. I thought that would be the end of it but NO. At 3:40am another 2 guys came and banged on the door too with some yelling to boot. Again I called front desk, again they dispatched security, and later on I received another call (that woke me up) to say the guys were not there anymore and they would extend my check out to 3pm (but we didn’t use it as we had a 5 hour drive back and we had to get up at 6am for surf anyway). I don’t blame the resort for having unruly guests but I do blame them for having poor procedures on dealing with drunk guests within their compound and zero checks on noise levels and guests banging on doors in the corridor for hours. You would think after the first incident that they would have been more alert for the rest of the drunks who were still drinking in resort compounds, as the party was seemingly not yet over. If you allow drinking parties in your hotel, it should not be at the expense of other guests. I felt like they prioritized these guys who might even have been illegally over-cramming their rooms over the rest of their customers who were trying to get a good night’s rest. The security guard was not trained to be firm and give any warnings to them to keep the noise down. Even at a youth hostel, drunken unruly behavior would have resulted in removal. This is a rather expensive and nice resort. I expected a bit better handling and someone responsible to have dealt with the issue instead of a foreign “security guard”. Perhaps 2 things (in addition to better SOPs and trained staff) would have helped: a Room Bell/Buzzer (so that ppl don’t have to bang) and better sound insulation for all doors (corridor and connecting room doors). Considering your rooms cost from rm250-450 or more per night, I would say this is not too much to ask for. Oh and bathroom mats, as many other guests have pointed out already. Front desk was very courteous to me about the incident but I frankly don’t feel adequately answered or compensated for the horrible night. Instead of a rejuvenating weekend treat, we are now just sleep-deprived, exhausted and disappointed. We may take our business elsewhere this surf season.

Good hotel if you want to be close to but not in Johor Bahru
The hotel appears to be a large concrete shell built on a budget. There's no sound insulation so sound travels through the floors and walls. No piped-in hot water (all units have individual) instant water heaters - not an issue as we generally don't use hot water in Asia, and all rooms have individual a/c units. Rooms aren't too bad if rather plain. No overly large but by no means small either. Pool is large but can get crowded with children and families during holiday periods. Breakfast is o.k. if a bit uninspired. Go early but Asians tend to have breakfast early and all morning. Due to the huge volume of marine traffic (all ships going between east Asia and Europe/Africa pass close by) and oil rigs, there is a tiny sign warning of tarballs. Don't wear your best bathing suit if going to the beach. Gym is very small and basic. Not too bad value overall.

Not recommended
Will not go again. Long check in, the staff seemed so blur not sure of check in process. Waited super long for my turn. Room has no face and hand towels which is usually provided by all hotels. It’s not worth the price we paid for.

Superb!!
Love the scenery, the room, the facilities and the staff. The kids love so much the hotel pool and the beach. Variety of foods for breakfast as well. Need to be improved might be the iron and they should open the spa..

Mum day off
Nice beach and location but the resort didn't properly maintain. The corridor and the balcony was so dirty. I don't think they even sweep the floor on that area. The room wasn't that bad. Good tv channel. Huge swimming pool.
