Overview of Smart Boutique Hotel

Smart Boutique Hotel is a well-positioned 2-star property located along Jalan Pudu in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's bustling Bukit Bintang district. With 70 rooms spread across its compact yet thoughtfully designed premises, the hotel offers budget-conscious travellers a practical and comfortable base from which to explore the Malaysian capital. Its address at No 180, Jalan Pudu places it within easy walking distance of some of Kuala Lumpur's most popular shopping, dining, and entertainment hubs, making it an especially appealing choice for first-time visitors and solo travellers who want to maximise their time in the city without stretching their budget.

What sets Smart Boutique Hotel apart from many other budget accommodations in the area is its commitment to providing a clean, modern experience at an accessible price point. The hotel combines essential comforts such as

free WiFi throughout the property

, reliable air conditioning, and a

24-hour front desk

with thoughtful touches like a sun terrace and a dedicated tours desk to help guests plan their Kuala Lumpur adventures. The "boutique" element of the hotel's identity is reflected in its contemporary interior styling, which favours simple lines and functional design over the utilitarian feel common among properties in this category.

Whether you are passing through Kuala Lumpur on a short layover, embarking on a longer backpacking journey through Southeast Asia, or visiting the city on a business trip where proximity to KL's commercial centre matters more than five-star trimmings, Smart Boutique Hotel delivers genuine value. Its location in the Pudu neighbourhood — one of KL's most vibrant and historically rich areas — means that authentic local experiences, from hawker food to traditional markets, are right on your doorstep from the moment you step outside.

Room Types at Smart Boutique Hotel

Smart Boutique Hotel offers four distinct room categories, each designed to cater to different travel needs and group sizes. All rooms come equipped with

air conditioning

and

complimentary WiFi

, ensuring a comfortable stay regardless of which category you choose. The hotel's contemporary décor runs through every room type, with clean walls, modern fixtures, and practical furnishings that make efficient use of the available space.

Single Bed Room

The Single Bed Room is the hotel's most compact offering, purpose-built for solo travellers who need a private, comfortable space without paying for unnecessary extras. Furnished with a single bed, this room type is ideal for backpackers, business visitors on short stays, or anyone who plans to spend most of their time exploring the city rather than lingering in their accommodation. Despite its modest size, the Single Bed Room includes all essential amenities — air conditioning to keep the tropical heat at bay, free WiFi for staying connected, and a private bathroom with basic toiletries. The room is designed with clever storage solutions to help solo guests keep their belongings organised during their stay. For travellers who value location and affordability above all else, this room represents one of the best-value options in the Bukit Bintang area.

Twin Bed Room

The Twin Bed Room is configured with two separate single beds, making it the natural choice for friends travelling together, colleagues sharing accommodation, or family members who prefer their own sleeping space. This room type offers a comfortable amount of floor space for two guests, with enough room to move around freely and store luggage without the room feeling cramped. Each bed is fitted with fresh linens and a comfortable mattress to ensure a restful night's sleep after a long day of sightseeing. The Twin Bed Room also features air conditioning, complimentary WiFi, and a private en-suite bathroom. This configuration is particularly popular among travellers visiting Kuala Lumpur for events, conferences, or shopping trips, as it allows two guests to split the cost of accommodation while still enjoying a private room in a prime city-centre location.

Double Bed Room

The Double Bed Room is furnished with one double bed and is well suited for couples or solo travellers who appreciate having extra sleeping space. This room type strikes a comfortable balance between affordability and comfort, offering more generous proportions than the Single Bed Room without the premium pricing of the top-tier category. Guests can expect a clean, well-maintained room with modern décor, air conditioning, free WiFi, and a private bathroom stocked with essential toiletries. The double bed provides ample space for a restful night, and the room's layout is designed to create a relaxing atmosphere with soft lighting and neutral tones. For couples visiting Kuala Lumpur on a budget, the Double Bed Room at Smart Boutique Hotel offers a practical and pleasant retreat within walking distance of the city's best attractions.

Premium Bed Room

The Premium Bed Room represents the top accommodation tier at Smart Boutique Hotel, offering an elevated experience for guests who desire a little more space, comfort, and refinement. This room category features upgraded furnishings, enhanced bedding, and additional in-room amenities that set it apart from the standard options. Guests staying in the Premium Bed Room can expect superior mattress quality, plushier pillows, and extra touches such as improved lighting and more generous wardrobe space. The private bathroom in this category may also include upgraded fixtures and a wider selection of toiletries. Air conditioning and complimentary high-speed WiFi are included as standard. The Premium Bed Room is recommended for guests celebrating a special occasion, those on a longer stay who want maximum comfort, or anyone who simply prefers to enjoy the best available room without moving to a higher-star property. It provides a boutique hotel experience at a fraction of the cost you would expect in the Bukit Bintang district.

Facilities and Amenities

Smart Boutique Hotel focuses on delivering the amenities that matter most to modern travellers, particularly those exploring a busy urban destination like Kuala Lumpur.

Free WiFi

is available throughout the entire property, ensuring guests can research attractions, book transport, and stay in touch with family and friends from anywhere in the hotel — whether in their room, the lobby, or the sun terrace. Connection speeds are suitable for general browsing, social media, and video calls, which is a significant advantage for digital nomads and remote workers who may use the hotel as a temporary base.

The

24-hour front desk

is staffed around the clock, providing peace of mind for guests arriving on late-night flights or those with early morning departures. Front desk staff can assist with luggage storage, local directions, restaurant recommendations, and general travel queries at any hour. Complementing this, the hotel's

room service

allows guests to enjoy meals and refreshments in the comfort of their room — a welcome convenience after a long day navigating the city.

One of Smart Boutique Hotel's standout features is its

sun terrace

, a communal outdoor area where guests can relax, socialise, and enjoy views of the surrounding cityscape. In a densely built neighbourhood like Pudu, having access to an open-air space is a genuine luxury, and the sun terrace provides a pleasant spot for morning coffee or evening wind-down time. The hotel also operates a

tours desk

, where knowledgeable staff can help arrange day trips, city tours, and excursions to popular destinations such as the Batu Caves, Genting Highlands, or Malacca. This service is particularly valuable for first-time visitors to Malaysia who may not be familiar with the best tour operators or transport arrangements.

Every room in the hotel is fitted with

individually controlled air conditioning

, an essential feature in Kuala Lumpur's tropical climate where temperatures regularly exceed 30°C. Guests should note that as a focused 2-star property, Smart Boutique Hotel does not offer a swimming pool or fitness centre. However, its central location means that public sports facilities and commercial gyms are accessible within a short distance for those who wish to maintain their exercise routine during their stay.

Location and Getting There

Smart Boutique Hotel enjoys an enviable position at No 180, Jalan Pudu, placing it at the crossroads of two of Kuala Lumpur's most dynamic neighbourhoods —

Bukit Bintang

and

Pudu

. Jalan Pudu is one of KL's major arterial roads, lined with shophouses, eateries, and local businesses, offering guests an authentic taste of city life the moment they step outside the hotel's doors. The famous Bukit Bintang shopping strip, home to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Lot 10, and Fahrenheit88, is located within walking distance, while the vibrant Chinatown quarter of Petaling Street is also easily reachable on foot.

For guests arriving from

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)

, the most efficient route is the KLIA Ekspres train to KL Sentral, followed by a short ride on the LRT, monorail, or taxi to the hotel. The entire journey typically takes between 45 minutes and one hour. Alternatively, ride-hailing services such as Grab offer door-to-door convenience from the airport at competitive fares. From

Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (Subang)

, the hotel can be reached by taxi or Grab in approximately 30 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

The nearest rail station is

Pudu LRT station

, located just a short walk from the hotel. This station sits on the Ampang and Sri Petaling LRT lines, providing direct access to key destinations across the Klang Valley. The

Bukit Bintang Monorail station

is also within comfortable walking distance, connecting guests to the KL Monorail line for easy travel to KL Sentral, Chow Kit, and Titiwangsa. For those who prefer road transport, the hotel's position on Jalan Pudu ensures excellent connectivity to major highways, and taxis as well as Grab vehicles are readily available throughout the day and night.

Notable attractions near Smart Boutique Hotel include

Berjaya Times Square

, one of Malaysia's largest shopping malls complete with an indoor theme park, located just minutes away. The iconic

Petronas Twin Towers

and

KLCC Park

are accessible within a short taxi or train ride. Guests interested in culture and history will appreciate the proximity to the

National Museum

,

Merdeka Square

, and the bustling lanes of

Jalan Alor

, Kuala Lumpur's most famous street food destination.

Dining at Smart Boutique Hotel

Smart Boutique Hotel offers

room service

for guests who prefer the convenience of dining in their accommodation. This service allows travellers to enjoy meals without having to venture outside, which is particularly useful during KL's frequent afternoon rain showers or for those arriving after a tiring journey. Guests are encouraged to enquire at the front desk about available menu options and service hours upon check-in.

Beyond the hotel's own offerings, the surrounding Pudu and Bukit Bintang neighbourhoods are nothing short of a food paradise, and this is arguably one of the greatest advantages of staying at this address.

Jalan Alor

, KL's legendary open-air food street, is located nearby, where dozens of hawker stalls and restaurants serve an astonishing variety of Malaysian, Chinese, Thai, and seafood dishes from late afternoon well into the early hours of the morning. Signature dishes to look out for include char kuey teow, satay, grilled chicken wings, and fresh tropical fruit juices, with most hawker meals costing from approximately RM 8 to RM 15 per dish.

The

Pudu area

itself is renowned for its traditional coffee shops and family-run restaurants, many of which have been serving loyal customers for decades. Breakfast options abound, from classic Malaysian

nasi lemak

and

roti canai

at neighbourhood mamak restaurants to dim sum at Chinese kopitiam establishments. For guests seeking international cuisine or more formal dining, the malls along Bukit Bintang — particularly

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

and

Lot 10 Hutong

— house a wide range of restaurants covering everything from Japanese ramen to Italian pasta to premium Korean barbecue. Several well-known fast food chains and popular café brands are also within easy walking distance for those craving familiar favourites.

Why Stay at Smart Boutique Hotel

Unbeatable city-centre location.

Staying at Smart Boutique Hotel puts you right in the thick of Kuala Lumpur's action. The Bukit Bintang and Pudu location means you are minutes away from world-class shopping, diverse street food, cultural landmarks, and excellent public transport links. Few hotels in this price range can match the sheer convenience of this address for exploring everything the city has to offer.

Outstanding value for money.

As a 2-star boutique property, Smart Boutique Hotel delivers a clean, comfortable, and modern experience at rates that leave plenty of room in your travel budget for experiences, food, and shopping. Every room includes air conditioning and free WiFi — amenities that are not always guaranteed at this price tier — ensuring that essential comforts are never compromised.

Ideal for solo and duo travellers.

With four room types ranging from a compact Single Bed Room to the upgraded Premium Bed Room, the hotel caters specifically to solo adventurers, pairs of friends, and couples. The room configurations are practical and well thought out, avoiding the common budget hotel pitfall of trying to cram too many guests into ill-suited spaces.

Helpful tours desk for planning excursions.

The on-site tours desk is a genuine asset, particularly for visitors who are new to Malaysia. Having knowledgeable staff who can arrange day trips to destinations like the Batu Caves, Putrajaya, or the Genting Highlands takes the stress out of travel planning and helps guests make the most of their limited time in the region.

Sun terrace for relaxation.

The availability of an outdoor sun terrace is an uncommon feature for a budget hotel in this part of Kuala Lumpur. It provides a pleasant communal space to unwind, enjoy a drink, or simply take in the urban atmosphere — a small but meaningful touch that enhances the overall guest experience.

Tips for Booking Smart Boutique Hotel

Book early for peak periods.

Given its prime Bukit Bintang location and competitive pricing, Smart Boutique Hotel's 70 rooms can fill up quickly during major events and holiday seasons. If you plan to visit Kuala Lumpur during popular periods such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend, major festival celebrations like Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Chinese New Year, or the year-end school holiday season from November to January, it is strongly advisable to secure your reservation several weeks in advance through Traveloka to lock in the best available rates.

Choose the right room type for your needs.

Solo travellers on a tight budget will find the Single Bed Room perfectly adequate, while couples should opt for the Double Bed Room for a more comfortable stay. If you are travelling with a friend or colleague and prefer separate beds, the Twin Bed Room is purpose-built for that arrangement. For those who want a noticeably upgraded experience without moving to a more expensive hotel, the Premium Bed Room offers enhanced comfort and amenities that justify the modest price difference — it is well worth considering for stays of three nights or more.

Take advantage of the tours desk.

Before spending time researching and independently booking tours online, check with the hotel's tours desk first. Staff can often arrange competitive deals on popular excursions and provide local insights that you will not find in generic travel guides. Ask about half-day city tours, airport transfer arrangements, and day trips to attractions outside Kuala Lumpur for a hassle-free experience.

Arrive prepared for the check-in and check-out times.

Smart Boutique Hotel's

check-in time is 14:00

and

check-out is at 12:00

. If you arrive early, the front desk can store your luggage while you explore the city — the nearby Bukit Bintang area and Pudu markets are ideal for filling those pre-check-in hours. Guests who require an early check-in or late check-out should contact the hotel in advance through Traveloka to enquire about availability, as these requests are typically subject to room availability on the day.

Use public transport to save on travel costs.

While taxis and Grab rides are convenient, the hotel's proximity to the Pudu LRT station and Bukit Bintang Monorail station means you can reach most major attractions in Kuala Lumpur affordably by rail. A single LRT or monorail journey costs from approximately RM 1.20 to RM 3.50 depending on distance, making it one of the most economical ways to get around the city. Consider purchasing a Touch 'n Go card for seamless tap-and-go payments across all KL public transport networks.

Been staying here for 4 nights and gladly enough the location is within distance of walking throughout Bukit Bintang area. Fast wifi. My room is a bit small but you get what you pay. TV is available and often there is no signal or static but that isn’t a big deal for me because I’m not a TV person myself. The bed are super comfy. And the front desk staff are nicely enough to entertain my request and perform our check-in especially the Indian ladies. All around the hotel is plenty of mini-mart and the nearest mall is Berjaya Times Square. On the left side of the hotel, is the infamous road and night life of Bukit Bintang. Witnessing so many fun and interesting event during the night especially the buskers performances in front of CIMB Bank, KFC and some other as well. Please bear in mind, there is a lot of beggar on the street and you might wanna keep your wallet tight with you and don't put it behind your back pocket! Make sure to dine in at one and only Chinese Muslim Restaurant which I don’t quite remember the name but the owner is super friendly. Overall, good hotel if you want to go out explore the district more rather than being inside the room all the time.

I was greeted by the quite unfriendly staff who then told me that the room which I booked few days prior was unavailable. After couple of questions and phone calls we managed to get our room. I was asked to pay RM50 for the deposit which is the normal procedure if you stay in other hotels as well. But when I asked for the receipt, that guy told me there’s no need to present the receipt during the check out. I was in doubt at that time. Then, once we entered the room, it wasn’t look as nice as how it look in the picture that I found from the apps. I was quite disappointed as my expectation was high. I really hope that they can improve their service since the location of the hotel is quite strategic. Lastly, during the check out, another guy treated us so well. He did asked for the receipt to get back my deposit back. After some discussion, he returned the deposit and sorry for the inconvenient.

Despite of the bad review I read all over the reviews posted, my friends and I didn't have any issue with the cleanliness and other problem. Before coming here, I was worried that I need to be refunded for bad room condition or any else worst condition. But it was really vice versa! Because my trip was not being in the room for whole day, I would likely say that the room is at it best, with shower fully works, air conditioner well functioned and the bed is comfortable to sleep. The family room was nicely located at ground floor, with easy access to the exit. The front desk is friendly and no complaint shall I make. Thank you and hopefully the hotel can maintain a good and pleasant stay, ahead of some bad experience by other users.

The staff is friendly, room cleanliness may need to be considered. The first impression was entering the room there was a bug in the pillow, for WiFi very fast.

I get in accordance with the budget that I spend. The location is strategic, near the Gokl stop so I can explore if it's free of charge aka Gretong.

small but clean, wifi connection super amazing, staff friendly and they help us to keep our luggage save before the midnight flight. from hotel to alor street or imbi station for about 5 mnts by walking. suggestion, you should book a room with triple bed if you bring a child for more convenience stay. no lift here, they only have staircase but only 1 level high so it's not a matter.

The location is very good, convenient to travel, but in terms of amenities, but not traveling in a dusty or cheap way, it is suitable for me. The room has a mouse but I asked to change the room, it's ok

Actually the room was comfortable but rightly said the previous review there was a small cockroach that kept going around the dispenser as well as lots of little cockroaches. It's just annoying.
