Taipei Discover Hostel

Weird place. It’s a clean place in a decent location for a reasonable price but I don’t recommend it. If this were a backpacker or traveler hostel it would be great but the lounge feels like the living room of the long term low income Taiwanese guests. The fridge is packed. People don’t talk to each other. Weird vibes. If they make a mistake, you have to pay. Make sure to get a receipt because they won’t trust you when you say you paid.

Good value for the price and staff is all extremely welcoming and friendly with lots of knowledge of what to do in Taipei and Taiwan! Would be happy to stay again the next time I’m in Taipei. :)

I've stayed at a few hostels in Taipei, this was by far the worse one

Will come back again. If you will be out and just need a location to sleep at, with the basics to focus on enjoying the city, this place was worth the stay.

The Discover hostel is amazing. I can’t recommend it enough. They make you feel like family immediately. They help you with whatever you need, whether that be helping you figure out how to call a cab or helping you unlock your locker when you reset and forget the code (oops). The location is great, near the center of the city. It’s right next to a bus stop and a short walk away from a subway stop. There are many little restaurants and 7/11’s extremely close by, so if you get the munchies, you don’t have to walk far. The hostel is just off a main road so it’s super easy to get a taxi. The SongShan airport is so close you could walk if your luggage isn’t heavy. Or you can easily take a bus. Oh, and if you walk in the direction of the airport, you come across a cool, pretty park. I had some great conversations with people there. It’s a great place to go to take a walk or meet new people or see an evening music performance. I totally recommend staying at Discover Hostel!!! -Ruthie

Good location, staff very friendly

The stay was very comfortable and the staff was overall very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure your stay feels welcoming. The Egyptian Cotton bedding was extremely comfortable, as were their actual mattress and pillow, both supportive and soft enough for many good nights sleep. While I stayed for one night and was considering another, I overheard a couple different people who extended their stays, and to me that sounded like a compliment in itself. I’d definitely return to stay here again.

The service at the checkin is excellent, but the capsules are abit outdated needs fresh paints, there is a constant humming noice in the capsule, soundproofing is not very good! good location for short term layover! good enough for the prices!

I had great experience staying at Taipei Discover Hostel. It’s located near Taipei TSA airport (majority domestic flights and some short distance international flights). MRT station is 5 mines walk and there’s every kinds of food near you: McDonald’s, 7-ELEVEn, Taiwanese street food, various selections of hotpot (chicken cooked with sesame oil, duck cooked with old ginger, goat cooked with Chinese herbs), also some foreign food like Korean or pizza. There’s also traditional street market located at western side of the hostel, just a block away and very easy to access. The famous temple Xing-Tian-Gong is located at eastern side and within 10 minutes walk. The underpath has several fortune teller booths. I saw many signs says “Japanese translation available” but not confident if they offer English. Maybe you will need a translator. Hostel staffs are friendly and willing to give advice. On the second night of my stay, I was lucky enough to met the owner at lounge area. He really cared about my experience staying here, after several conversations he started explained the specifications of this hostel. The first night I was curious about the smalll air vent on the wall of my cube. The air venting out was cool and fresh. The owner said he set up the air vent for each cube. Fresh air was pumped from the roof, filtered and distributed to each cube. That’s an astonishing idea!

Great location very close to metro. Staff were very helpful. Lockers in room and bed space very good. Bathroom decent. Would visit again.

This place is located in a peace area steps from the MRT station. Staff are super friendly and helpful, simple breakfast provided and it's just nice at the rooftop place. The bed is comfortable and allows you to have your privacy zone even in a shared dorm. Toilet and shower room are always clean. Overall, I was really happy during my stay here and will of course consider this place if going to Taipei again.
