Golden Gables Inn

Our room had hair in the sink and shower. We were given another room. No room service. We had to bring our dirty towels to them if we wanted to exchange for new ones.

We stayed here to ride our bikes on the presidential rail trail in Gorham and float on the Saco. North Conway is a great place to be close to nature and still be near restaurants and necessities. The Golden Gables was located in a spot that is easy to get in and out of. The grounds and pool were refreshing after spending the day bike riding. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet at night. We were on the first floor so we could house our bikes at night. It was a great value.

No instructions on the air conditioner- cycled off and on all night. Very hard to sleep. No daily service- did I need to ask? Not sure.

Strong food odor from upstairs room. Staff attempted to address.

The property was clean and well maintained, and our daughter really enjoyed the pool, definitely a highlight. Unfortunately, that was about the extent of the positives. At check-in, we were told there would be coffee available at 6 AM, but there was none, and the front entrance was locked. The rooms were extremely basic (no coffee maker, no drinkable water, and only one roll of toilet paper provided for a two-night stay). For the price we paid, we expected at least a continental breakfast or a few more amenities. There was a whirlpool bathtub, which seemed like a nice touch, but about 20 minutes after using it, a loud built-in dryer system activated on its own, startling us and waking up our daughter with no way to turn it off. When we were checking out in the morning, the front door was again locked. There was no key drop box outside either. We left our keys in the room and left. If you’re just looking for a clean place to sleep and don’t care about any extras, this place is fine (but overpriced). If you’re expecting even the most basic hotel amenities, you’re better off staying elsewhere — and likely for a better price.

I am not quite sure where the high rating came from for this hotel. The reviews and pictures as well as the price where contributing factors in us booking our 3 night get away, what a disappointment. At first glance, the hotel has a cute, small town appearance and the room was clean but that is all the good I have to say about it. The property is in need of some serious upgrades, some of which need to be done immediately. One of which is the stairs leading from the upper parking lot to the lower area where the pool and ice maker are. We needed to navigate these stair at least 5 times each day. The stair have loose stones on every step making it treacherous to walk down. At some point a huge paver fell off of the front of a step and instead of replacing it they put an orange cone on it. The pool are has a hot tub that is not functioning. It sits right in the middle of the pool patio and is a big hole with a tarp over it that has sunken in from the rain. The entire pool area is a mishmash of broken and worn out chairs, 2 or 3 dilapidated tables and absolutely no shade, not even an umbrella. We were told to use the bath towels for the pool. They do not offer daily room makeup, not even towel service. They give you enough towels for 1 day and you need to keep going to the office to ask for more towels. We went up to ride motorcycles so we only needed to sleep but for a family vacation I would stay away. 2 stars only for the clean room, 0 for the rest!

The experience was great..👍 the Price was excellent. It was quiet with lovely grounds very convenient location. I would not hesitate to recommend this Inn. It was a great place to stay.

The pool and hot tub were broken and unusable but was not told ahead of arrival

I have been going to this property for over 10 years. This was absolutely the worst. On arrival, the receptionist said that they were waiting for a part for the pool so it was closed. Also, the pool hadn't been cleaned for a long time and the hot tub had NO WATER IN IT. It was a very hot weekend and they didn't give any kind of refund or money off the stay. I am not sure I would go back. It is unfortunate.

The location is perfect for access to either end of Conway. The room was especially clean. It would be nice to have a coffemaker in the room since it isn't available in the office until 8am. But that is not essential to wanting to stay there in the future.

Great place to stay.

Good motel for the price. A little older, but worked okay for us. No front desk over night so we didn't know what to do with our key on early checkout.

Really cute place. We didn't spend much time there but it was comfortable and clean and that's what we needed.
