Hampton Inn and Suites Newark-Harrison-Riverwalk

First time I could sleep late in a long time and i had to awoken to a blaring fire alarm. Then i had to stansmd in the parking lot for an hour Only to be told it was a false alarm. THE STAY SHOULD BE COMPED !!!

The property itself was good - fairly clean and maintained. Staff was professional and competent, but not welcoming or friendly. There was adequate (free) parking, and the river view was nice. While no fault of the hotel, the commuter train tracks are only a few feet away, so it is very noisy.

Property had a nice view. Pool and bar were nice amenities. Beds were really comfy and rooms were clean and big. The area outside the hotel was pretty dirty. Breakfast was good. Parking for the hotel was pricey

Great place to stay with very nice rooms, the best mattresses and a great breakfast buffet included. The front desk Supervisor, Tim is great, a professional and something that has gone missing in many service oriented businesses. He was excellent. There are restaurants that are within driving distance. Be sure to check out Tops (the only one within walking distance. It's been in business since 1946. Excellent menu and all is great. The hotel is not in the best of areas and my only complaint.

Very convenient for me

Everyone was very friendly and helpful but I will say the floor in the bathroom had the appearance that it’s never been washed. There were also a pair of earrings on the windowsill so that felt a bit off. There were little things in the room that could have been fixed. The toilet paper would not stay on the holder because it was so far bent down… Little things like that

The staff was lovely, location convenient for my event, and the hot breakfast options were good. The downside was it looked like a "spot" poop 💩 found on one of the sheets. Not sure what it was and the staff addressed it immediately and changed the sheets.

The American flag that was being flown was not only torn and ragged but was flown at night in the dark. Very disappointing that even after bringing this to the attention ofstaff two different times on two different days that this still wasn't resolved.

Upon arriving I was pleasantly surprised on how kind and friendly everyone was. I made it to my room and the beds were the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in. They have guest laundry on the 6th floor for $3 to wash and $3 to dry. Nice big front loaders. They sell soap at the front desk but there is a Walmart 10 min away and a Target right up the road as well. Mini fridge, safe and thermostat in the room. Plenty of hospitality items ( water, shampoo, body wash, hot coffee and tea) The free breakfast was normal hotel food, eggs potato’s and meat…they DID NOT have a pork free option everyday but on one day they did have turkey bacon which was nice to have. Also, waffles, fruit, yogurt muffins toast and bagels. A good selection. The gym and pool were nice and clean. Everything was pretty nice. It’s not all fancy and updated but it’s a nice safe clean place to stay. Oh and they have a bar if you are into that.

Breakfast was completely bare, room service only swapped a towel, left the trash that was neatly placed in a larger bag but was not taken away until left in hallway, no hallway trash cans so halls would have all the trash at doors all day until 9am following day the views advertised for this property are only visible from outside the building.

Toilet in room did not work. Would not flush. Bathroom was dirty. AC did not work correctly in room. Room needed to be vaccumed

One main reason we picked this property was for the indoor pool. Unfortunately the pool was not clean. It had a slimy film feel to it and was super cloudy.It caused itchy skin. Very disappointed. Other than that room was very clean, spacious and staff was always available for anything we needed. Gas station is right next door for drinks foods and necessities. Mamy places for food around the area.

The property was really nice and well kept! What I didn’t like was the train coming by every hour and I paid extra for the river view but it was more like a stagnant swamp. The river was dirty and the view had commercial property that wasn’t a very eye pleasing. The River view should not be charged as an extra luxury when it’s really a turn of with all the junk in the river that doesn’t float away at all!!!

The man at the front desk was very rude and unprofessional. He clearly needs training on how to communicate respectfully with customers. He wasted my time and made the experience frustrating. If you’re serious about welcoming customers, please consider having someone at the front desk who understands therapeutic communication and proper customer service.

The hotel was ok. The break fast was good. The room was average. The plumbing needs some work. The toilet was not sturdy. Every time you sat on it, it rocked.

We stayed for two nights and both nights the fire alarm went off. The first time kids had set off the alarm the second time was due to kitchen staff. After long days in the city it was very inconvenient. My son has a health condition and he requires a certain amount of sleep or he will have seizures. I will be looking into a refund. I will not be staying at this hotel again.

This was by far my worst experience with an out of town hotel !! When we arrived they informed us our reservation was canceled a few hours later after speaking with hotel personnel about check in times. The man whom identified himself as the hotel supervisor stated all of the reservations made though third parties where canceled but I truly didn’t understand because on my Expedia account it stated my booking was still valid. If this was done by their hotel personnel the guests should’ve been contacted prior to coming to the property to find this out. I came from Washington DC so my commute was 4 hours! The man whom attempted to “squeeze” me in after my reservation from April 1st was cancelled gave me a taste twice as high than my original booking because he stated I was a “walk in guest” not sure how if I had reservations for two rooms !! Then I had to pay a 22 dollar fee to park on the property after paying for my rooms which was kind of ridiculous given I had just purchased a room in this hotel ! A complete rip off I tell you !! Then we were waken out of our sleep three hours later to fire alarms going off !! Once we ran down three flights of stairs the hotel personnel was just standing at the desk not saying much of anything ! The staff was clearly very inexperienced and very young for these positions. When we asked what was going on they stated false alarm, I was completely confused because most of the hotel was standing outside just as shocked and confused as I was.
