Holiday Inn Express HARRISBURG EAST - HERSHEY AREA by IHG, an IHG Hotel

When we arrived and was able to check in we went up to the room and the room had a musty smell to it. We ended up going to buy air fresheners for the room. The hotel is old and doesn’t look like the photos. The room felt damp at all times and the air conditioner was loud and noisy. The bathroom was small and moldy. The fan in the ceiling of the bathroom was petrifying out of the curling tiles. Housekeeping were slow and would be finishing up late at night. I dont recommend this hotel at all. I would have tried to switch hotels but nothing was available around the area.

Pancake machine was out of order. Only beverage available for breakfast was coffee. I don't drink coffee, so I had to take my food back to my room and drink water.

Our room was not just "damp" is was wet. Vaccum at 6:30pm at night with rooms still being cleaned. Told us absolutely no pets but a lady with a dog walk by me at that same time who was a guest. Terrible room

Room wasn’t clean, they didn’t bring no more clean wash cloths or towels.

Asked for adjoining rooms (twice prior to arrival) and staff claimed none were clean. Offered to come back later for cleaning and the two staff members at the desk looked at each other and rolled their eyes. Room felt damp the entire time. It was practically impossible to sleep in, what felt like, damp sheets. Staff was vacuuming in hallway at 10pm. Breakfast left a lot to be desired.

Our stay was good just the noise in room I think was the air conditioning compresor .

NO one was at the desk. I even called the property. Got voice mail. People had key problems and were waiting. Finally discovered a key with my name on it on the desk. There ought to be a way to find someone.

The light in the entry was not working. The entry door had a gap from the floor that was 2 inches and easy to see under. There was a hole in the ceiling near the window that looked as if it might have leaked in the past and not fully repaired. They only had one small elevator for the entire hotel.

As a club member of Holiday Inn, I chose this location for a quick overnight stop on our way back to Canada after a long road trip. I had stayed at other Holiday Inn Express hotels throughout the journey, all of which offered much better experiences. Sadly, this particular location was a major letdown, we noticed the hotel looked outdated and neglected. The entire property is clearly in need of significant renovations. When we entered our room, we were immediately hit with a strong, unpleasant odor — a mix of humidity and old furniture. It was the kind of smell that lingers and makes you uncomfortable staying in the space. Cleanliness was a major issue. The room had clearly not been properly cleaned. Dust was visible on surfaces. We weren’t the only ones having issues; another family on our floor told us their room was even worse and advised us to check everything before unpacking. They ended up asking for a room change. Breakfast the next morning continued the disappointing trend. The juice machine was broken, and there was no orange juice available. The pancake machine,one of the highlights at other Holiday Inn Express locations was out of service, with a filthy belt that clearly hadn’t been cleaned or maintained in a long time. When we went for coffee, it tasted burnt and old. Most of the chairs and tables were scratched, damaged, or wobbly. In short, this hotel did not deliver the quality or comfort you expect from the Holiday Inn 3-star, felt more like a 1- to 2-star

Young lady at front desk was polite and professional. Carpets and floors could have used some vacuuming. Breakfast was ok at best and Cinnamon buns were excellent.

Safe box in the room got broken and we weren't able to open it till the next morning. Phone didn't work in any of the rooms and front desk clerk didn't bother to let us know about it on arrival. Guest service clerk was given us attitude and was visibly annoyed . Housekeeping on the floor spoke loudly among themselves ignoring guests.

Hotel workers were very friendly!! Then there was the hotel and the property Where do I start? Check in was wonderful check in worker was very friendly then we get into our room. Light shades above our bed were missing carpet under the desk was dirty then it comes to the bathroom. I go to take a shower. The showerhead completely gross, corroded bathtub would fill up and would backwash into the tub. There was dirt there was grime like it was clogged every time you took a shower. Ice machine on our floor, which was the fifth did not work. Had to go down all the way to the first floor when I wanted some ice then when you walked down the hallway of the fifth floor, completely dirty look like it was not vacuumed in years. We go outside to use the pool with the family and let’s talk about unsafe the handrails that you used to go down into the pool completely wobbly accident, waiting to happen The hotel said it had a laundry facility to use it and the machines are out of order , so when I wanted to dry my bathing suit, I couldn’t Wallpaper in the bathroom was ripped sink had a big crack in it. and unfortunately, we love the staff, but we would never stay at this hotel again this really needs to be inspected and re-rated

The pool was covered in empty alcohol nips/bottles which attracted ants and flys! The railings were lose and broken off from the pool stairs. Dirty used bandages in and around the pool. Inside the hotel the carpets were dirty and had trash everywhere. The was hair all over the bathroom sink and shower. Trash underneath the sink, trash in the dressers from previous guest. Bathtub was clogged and backed up. Toilets wouldn’t flush. Breakfast area was small, almost all chairs were ripped or had holes in them. Pancake machine wasn’t working , food was cold and soggy/greasy. Staff was No where to be found half the time or constantly outside smoking. Entire place smelled of weed. Overall this place SUCKED!!!!!!

The room was clean and presentable. My main complaint would be that the outlet and USB plugs under the TV and between the beds were worn out and in need of replacement.

The property presented a weird mix of upgraded and needing repair. It was great with many things and it is worth the price. However, it needs a few small updates and it needs more attention to detail regarding cleaning for example. While the main room was super clean and everything was new there was one corner of the bathroom that wasn’t cleaned for a long time. There was one spot of mold on the shower curtain. There were two inches of wallpaper missing on the third floor next to the elevator and you could see the drywall.

The room was clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The air conditioner worked well and the room had good air circulation. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The rooms were quiet. The breakfast area was crowded and the hot food were not so hot. The coffee was great!
