Red Roof Inn Etowah - Athens, TN

The room smelled of smoke when we walked in. Found a big bug on the floor. Told the attendant on the front desk. He said it’s a non smoking room and chuckled. Found the bed sheets were stained and the bed made a lot of squeaking.

Stay here all the time, never an issue.

Decently clean Room but it had funky smell. Fridge/freezer didn’t cool properly, there was a bit of a language barrier between staff and me. They didn’t seem to speak English very well; they knew just enough to cover the basics of the job. The younger man working there was not very friendly. Maybe don’t treat people with dogs like they’re a cancer.

Heater thermostat was not working properly. Ceiling plaster missing.in places. Side doors did not lock. It was clean and dog walk area was ok

Everything was great however: the side door was broken and anyone could get in. And they stated they had breakfast, they DID NOT! It was coffee and tea, idk how they get away with stating they offer breakfast included.

This was a nice hotel in a quiet town, near restaraunts and grocery store. it has a washer and dryer which was good for me. the hosts are nice and I would stay here again. I got a good price so that helped. Two things of note that seemed out of place with such a high score. when I checked into my first room it had a large (almost a foot across) stain in the comfortable chair, noticable from across the room. it would be hard to think someone missed it. I went to the desk, showed a picture, and the gentleman, as I recall, asked if I wanted to move my room. he was happy to do so, and apologized. I found it weird he asked if I wanted to move, after I had walked down to the front desk and showed a picture. the other slightly odd thing is the side doors to the parking lot facing mc Donald's isn't capable of locking. it has the card scanner but the door lock mechanism has been removed. so at any time of night someone could walk in. they do have security cameras but I couldn't come up with a good reason to leave those unlocked unless they are a maintenance issue. when I told the man at the desk he confirmed they are unlocked. I just took a little extra security precaution and enjoyed my new room, which was quite nice.

Nice clean room. Comfortable bed!! Could use some sort of breakfast.

Older property but maintained and clean. We only stopped to shower and sleep while passing through the area, so didn’t check out any of the surroundings. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the shower was hot with great water pressure. There was no continental breakfast but for the room price, this wasn’t a deal breaker.

Hotel was fine. No breakfast tho. Room was clean and felt like a safe area.

Nice place to stay if your in the area, clean room within close walking distance of McDonalds, domino’s and grocery store. The bed was a little uncomfortable but honestly I was so tired it didn’t matter. My only gripe is there was no bath towels in my room but I’m sure if I asked I could have got some. Staff was very friendly and check in went smoothly. I definitely would stay here again

The Bedrooms where not clean the sheets had hair and a small bit of blood on it.The hallway of the hotel also wasnt very clean chips of the wall where evrywhere and just dust. Also when we check in for the day there was another man that was a veteran that didnt have any help he was on crutches and didnt have a leg and gave him a second story room when the elevator was not working very sweet man but he was struggling to get to his room and was fustrated that no one offered to help or tried to give him a first floor room . I understand that their might be a language or cultural barrier however when it comes to a hotel or the hospitality business i feel that their needs to be compasion and making sure your customers are safe and helped and i dont believe that happened when i was there. I hope that it does get better.

First room the smell was terrible. Second room was better but still below par. Front desk try to fix the problem but it was way beyond their control .

The building was clean in most area. Bathroom was dated but ok. The floors were carpet free and the floor was clean. Heater definitely could use an update but worked well. No breakfast provided. Easy parking. Price was very good.

I am shocked Red Roof Inns has their name on this hotel. It has not been cleaned in at least months. Linens including bedspread and pillow cases were soiled. Ceiling had plate sized peeling off from water leak, carpets in hallways filthy, bathroom ceiling molded. I will be sending a complaint to corporate.

Very noisy. We were at the street side. People talking outside so loud we could here from second floor.

Stayed 1 night room was clean & affordable. Staff was friendly. Only complaint the batteries in the remote died. Quiet nights sleep beds do need new mattresses. No bugs of any kind! First thing I always check are the mattresses & bedding for bugs or evidence of bugs. Very clean room

a great place to stay in the area. The place does need some upkeek and cleaning. the rooms were very spacious clean and with a micro and refrig.

The rooms were clean. The hotel felt safe. The only issue was that the interior hallways outside our rooms smelled very strong of cigarette smoke. Definitely seems that people are smoking inside the building.

Excellent place to stay. Have stayed twice now, and will stay in the future. Close enough to all areas on Tn. Great rates, very clean, very friendly
