Such a unique property! Make sure to take the elevator to the third and fourth floors for an adorable surprise thru the elevator window! Rooms were sweet with a balcony and fireplace. Rooms on the northeast side are a bit noisy in the evening due to the open (and beautiful) staircase leading directly to the bar below.

The room was a little dark for my taste, and the gym is tiny, aside of that, everything great

First off, I love Victorian homes. This hotel was beautiful, the restaurant Salt and Whiskey was very good and I received two drink coupons. It is a walking distance from Seaport Village and Gaslamp district on the next block over but the hotel area was not crowded from gaslamp crowds. Another plus was the Whiskey House was right around the corner. So many places to eat and shop. The hotel was clean, the staff was nice. They have a small gym that was great. Seating area in the patio is big and realxing. Will definitely stay here again.

Hotel was very outdated but was convenient to Petco park. And that’s all that mattered. May stay was on 24 hours.

Was disappointed that I was told that the staff would call / text me when room ready. Never happened. Waited well after check in time only to find room was available. No aploogy. Also was unable to make two keys upon checking in. Had to stop back separately to get the second key.

The Bell staff at this property was excellent. There was a gentleman named Victor that was super helpful a young gentleman with curly hair that I couldn’t remember his name in an older gentleman whose name is I’m forgetting as well, but they were all very helpful and nice. Great location in the gaslamp district. A hotel needs a refresh, but it was clean and my room had a nice balcony.

Check-in at the Horton was great. The renovations to the building are very impressive. However, the wall hanging hair dryer didn't work and the replacement that maintenance installed smelled like burned toast so a hand held one was finally found on day 2. Housekeeping could not read the "Do Not Disturb" sign.

So torn on this place. Positives: Victor up front (concierge?) and Todd at valet were amazing. Room was clean. Loved the suite setup, spacious for my wife to work. Loved the charm of the old building. Negatives: 1. Gaslamp is iffy. Safe in the hotel but area around, like most downtowns now, is hobo-ridden and dirtier than I’d hoped. Hotel did best they could, this is certainly not their fault. 2. Front desk staff was disappointing. Late check in (we informed them beforehand), the girl checking us in was bothered we showed up and took 5 min from her tik-tok. The other 3 days, most front desk were buried in their phones and often didn’t look up to acknowledge us. Gotta be tough for an owner now, you can’t take phones away but they should make an effort to greet people while they are being paid to work. 2. Salt & Whiskey- One great night getting cocktails & dessert. Wonderful bartender. Night 2 we sat down and spent 10 min being ignored while staff mostly chatted with each other. Walked out without being spoken to, spent our $ elsewhere. 3. Maintenance- tried to open the bathroom door in our room and the handle fell off from a light touch. I had to screw the shower head tight to stop it from leaking. 4. Room- bathroom is old. Felt like a motel 6. 5. WiFi sucked. My phone wouldn’t connect for some ‘not trusted’ warning. Sketchy. I want to like the hotel but for the price I expected more. IMO worth $200/night. Drop the $20/night ‘resort fee’ and be up front on price.
