This is a charming place to stay. Located in a beautiful historic area with gardens and rolling hills all around. Love the wine bar at sunset in the grand room/lobby.

Stayed here for a few nights so we could attend my son’s graduation at University of Delaware. This place was a fantastic option since it was not far, only about 25 minutes away and we could get a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite so the whole family could be together. The grounds were just beautiful and the cottage quaint and beautifully appointed. Bed was comfortable. We wished we had more time to spend there. The only downsides and these are truly minimal- we would 1000% stay there again. 1- they don’t tell you online the suite has 2 sets of steep stairs. This was not an issue for us since we had our young son with us but had we had my aged in-laws with us as originally planned, it would not have been good. You do have to climb a set of steep stairs to get to each bedroom. 2- the TVs are very outdated. I get it- it’s a historic hotel but then either commit to that and have no tv or get with times and upgrade to a real flatscreen for each room. Again, we weren’t there much so not an issue for me so much as my husband and son who wanted to watch the NBA playoffs together. The small monitor like tv in the common area was not ideal. 3- the common area in the suite was not very comfortable. Again, think old small furniture we all had to retreat to the bedrooms to be comfortable and then we couldn’t be together. Small improvements could fix that. Bigger tv hanging on the wall, comfortable couch.. Other reviews have noted the close proximity to train tracks. It’s true, they are close.

Beautiful room interior. Nice appointments. Check in lodge was large and quirky. Fun to look around. Wish it was a bed and breakfast not solely an inn.

The Inn consists of several different small buildings with a few rooms in each. Our room was cute, with a very nice large bathroom. It was on the third floor of one of the small buildings. No elevator, so this needs to be considered in case of mobility issues. No breakfast, but there’s an in room Keurig coffee maker. We did not try the Kraft Kats restaurant. While this hotel is close to Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, and Brandywine State Park, it’s definitely car dependent.

Very friendly staff and the dinner I had at the restaurant was delicious. I would suggest that the bathroom in the room I stayed in is in need of renovation. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay and the location was great.

Charming historic inn in a beautiful Brandywine Valley location, but the experience was mixed. No breakfast, unfriendly service, and the spa was fully booked—which was frustrating for overnight guests. Our room was clean and characterful, but the steep, narrow staircase inside felt unsafe—we nearly fell carrying luggage. Gorgeous setting, but overall disappointing stay.

We have stayed many many times over the last 10 years at the Inn at Montchanin Village and have always loved it for its unique charm and wonderful location. In recent stays we have noticed that it is in need of an overall interior renovation. Lampshades are torn, windows don't close, and fabrics are worn. We do hope that the owners will breathe new life in this little treasure.
