The room was excellent. However a bit noisy during the day as it was overlooking the Opera house. Very spacious. A suggestion though is that the bath tub should have a shower curtain as otherwise the floor gets wet. The breakfast setting was idyllic in the central foyer. With the ancient Frangipani trees. Great service!

The building is 145 years old so If you know this when you book you do not expect it to be the same as a modern hotel. I loved the high ceilings, wooden floors and furniture and fittings to match the building. There were ample electrical sockets. You imagine all the people that have passed through this hotel and all the events in history that this hotel has experienced. For me this is not a complaint but there is no swimming pool and where one would be is the outside breakfast restaurant. I am glad they have not put one in, it would spoil the ambiance. There are frangipanni trees that are as old as the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful but are not too fluent in english so google translate or similar app can be helpful not only in the hotel but else well. To me this adds fun to the discusions. The hotel is central to a lot of tourist attractions, restaurants and shopping malls, some within easy walking distance. Next to the hotel is the Saigon Opera House, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a show there. Also the street traffic appears less but still a challenge crossing the streets if you are not use to it. There seems to be more traffic lights in this area but you still need to be vigilant when crossing. My review is as observed as a senior, so overall I had nice stay and have fond memories of our first stay in Ho Chi Minh City.

I liked how the hotel has historical value, it’s the oldest hotel in Vietnam which I did not even realize when I booked it. For something that’s a historical site, it’s actually very affordable compared to the other hotels around it. It’s right next to the opera which is another plus. It’s walking distance to a lot of things, the Saigon Centre, the Ben Thanh market, Bitexco financial tower, the waterbus station. And for an extra $20 per night, I got a bigger room with a balcony view of the opera. Definitely worth the upgrade, it was so nice watching people on the square. Strolling, watching the traffic and watching newly married couples take photos in front of the opera. It was definitely worth the money! Actually pretty cheap given all you’re getting. There is also a lot of tiny shops around and also a lot of spas and food places everywhere. Only thing I didn’t like so much was the spa, it’s so weird how they were asking you upfront to pay before they even serviced you. I found that very odd. And also how they were almost begging for a tip when the service charge was already included. I planned to tip more anyway but when I did tip the lady didn’t even say thank you. That was a huge turn off for. Will definitely skip jasmine massage that’s in the hotel. You’re better off getting spa services from places outside. Probably would be cheaper as well. Otherwise hotel was nice and clean, the staff were very helpful and attentive and courteous. Breakfast was amazing,

Since it was a cheap room, I got a room right behind the air conditioner. It was noisy all day and I couldn't sleep well. The room wasn't very clean, with hairs still lying around, but other than that it was generally good. The location is excellent, so I think I'll spend more on the room next time I stay.

Lovely old hotel with a lot of history but it’s VERY dated. Breakfast buffet was large enough but food quality was terrible. The location is great but we probably won’t stay here again. There’s a lot of hotels around for the same price with much much better breakfasts.

The hotel location and the room were great: large, historic, clean. Breakfast were good. However, the checked in was not smooth, they charged extra fee $15/day because my daughter is 12 years old that is how your website show children age is from 0-17 years old. We booked the same and stayed at Vinpearl had no extra charge.
