Great location. Unfortunately no aircon, stayed on a really hot day so rooms were not ventilated, the hotel provided fans though which was helfpul

The hotel is a lovely place and the grounds are amazing. Our room No 74 was ok but net curtains were marked and rail old, flaking and fragile. It broke off the window before we left. Drinking glasses had lipstick marks and coffee cups and teaspoon not cleaned. The room was very hotel but understandable due to weather but a fan provided but still very hot.

Room was extremely disappointing. First signage to the room was inadequate and had to call reception twice for directions, the mattress was old and not to the standard you expect these days. The room itself was tired and not particularly clean. It was far too hot to sleep, not enough ventilation. The price to be fair to reflect this, The hotel itself was short on choice on the menu, nothing too inspiring. What they did have is superb staff. Friendly, helpful and attentive - just let down by the facilities and amenities.

Do not stay here. We weee staying for 2 nights for a wedding. It’s an expensive place run extremely cheaply. The window blinds kept falling, the room sheets were dirty, the housekeeper came when asked for a cleaning but didn’t change sheets. The hallway/corridors are dirty, the hotel house has many unfinished rooms full of cobwebs. Breakfast was terrible, and it doesn’t say “breakfast included” only includes crappy continental food, nothing to order. The kitchen is dirty, and reception staff rude. It was a waste of £350–worse than staying at a Travelodge. Don’t get fooled by pretty pictures, this place is a rip-off!!

Wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it. It’s a shame as it’s in beautiful grounds and the hall looks stunning as you arrive up the drive: it’s shabby and in need of TLC. I wasn’t in the main hotel I was in an out building a good 5 min walk away. I had to eat at the hotel as the local pub is closed on a Monday. Don’t look at the website it’s out of date. Food menu was limited. I didn’t have breakfast - I suspect it wouldn’t have been nice! On a positive the girl behind the bar was lovely.

Upon arrival at reception, it was busy because the hotel was hosting a wedding. Our room was ok, very dated, bathroom was tatty & needed updating. Not quite the luxury heritage hotel I was expecting for my partners birthday.

I wanted a laid back night in a country hotel before starting on a job in the area. Some lucky people work weekends! Instead I got a 12-hour ordeal. The hotel is built around a suite of party rooms at its centre and on the night I stayed there was a massive wedding party until 1 am with crazy bass. This was followed by several hours of people crashing around the corridors keeping the party going. Closing the window was not an option as my tiny, miserable room was a heat trap. I measured temperatures at 28/29 degrees. The old fashioned desk fan so thoughtfully provided in place of functioning air con just spun the hot air around and made even more noise. The bed was of a size suitable for a four year old which helped maintain wakefulness if the heat and noise failed. Everything in the room was battered, shoddy and unattractive - a cheap BnB experience at country house prices. I am not against people having fun! But to cram in extra guests when the hotel is completely booked by such a big party is pure greed and works for no one. It was awkward to have to crash the party every time I went downstairs and I'm sure they didn't want an exhausted middle-aged random in their midst either. On the way to work the next morning I spotted an attractive country road tunnel and felt devastated. If only I'd known! The tunnel would have offered the comfort, cool air and tranquility so sorely missing at the hotel while saving me £100. I will go for that next time I'm on this job.

The room was so hot. Unable to sleep due to no fresh air and the heat. On the ground floor of the out building. There was no windows only French doors. There was a fan in the room but all that did was move hot, state air around. We could not leave the French doors open during the night as possibly of intruders. Most uncomfortable stay in a hotel we have ever had. At over £100 a night we find that was unacceptable .

The main house bedrooms are so hot! No air con and even with a fan it was over 30c in the room with window open! Ok seasonally hot for UK but this is not new. The building is just old and hot, so be prepared!!

Good value and a clean room with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good. Chose to stay here after a long late flight back to Heathrow and its proximity to the M4. Took all the stress out of a long drive home

Wedding hotel (or in this case prom). Rooms are stuffie unless you are in the Grange which is a drive up the road. Managers (or owning family are rude) the lovely local girls who work there kept apologising. Cleaners are divine. Left something behind but they refused to check.

The hotels facilities were disappointing. We were staying in the grange but it was unbelievably hot. No windows in our room. The staff did try everything to help,us so it’s no reflection on them as they were fully booked but unfortunately we had to check out straight away and so elsewhere as we couldn’t sleep in the rooms

Booked this last minute and was so impressed! We were put in the grange and was very pleased, though parking was a bit of a pain. Well equipped room, very comfy bed, incredible shower. Also had breakfast, we were very pleased. Will stay again!

My second time staying here. I absolutely love the grounds, that's the main attraction to this hotel. I stayed in the grange and the room was ok. Functional but tired and tatty in places. My bed wasn't fit for purpose and I was told by reception they couldn't change the mattress and I would have to put up with it. On my first night I asked for an extra duvet so I could sleep on top then have a cover. I was given a mattress topper, and had to start stripping and remaking my bed at 1am. Not exactly what I expected. Needless to say. Very poor sleep over 2 nights. The bathroom smelled of damp and the floor was disintegrating where water had continually splashed from the bath and shower. Getting in and out of the shower was dangerous. Steep and slippery. The grounds are beautiful, food was very good and waitress Lottie was great. Seems like hotel guests are second to corporate guests and visitors, felt that way to me. I'd love to return here but needs some work first.

The Grange 2 building should not be opened for guests during a heatwave. Before arriving I asked if they had fans/air con and I was told there would be fans in each room. We had no fan. When I called reception they seemed very frantic and said there were no additional fans to give. We had no windows either, we had a door but being on the ground floor facing the car park a lot of people were walking past the room. It was very stuffy and unpleasant. The bed was very soft and the bed frame kept splitting apart. The shower head is old, it needs a replacement. We've stayed before in the building with reception and that was nice. But Grange 2 was not.

Beautiful settings and clean well kept rooms. Staff were excellent. The Grange was a little walk from the main hotel. Breakfast included was a standard ok, could have had more of a selection, but the evening dinner was fantastic. Will be returning to stay at the main hotel next time
