Clean, carefully renovated, with respect to details, nice staff, sufficient choice for breakfast with some hot options too. Walking distance from train station and town attractions. Very good value for money. The only disappointment: coffee machine during breakfast was out of order

The staff were warm and welcoming throughout my stay, which made a great first impression. The room itself was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and I especially appreciated being able to open the windows for fresh air — something that’s surprisingly rare in many hotels these days. I also enjoyed the character of the building, which used to be an old bakery; the historic atmosphere added a lot of charm to the experience. Having access to a laundry room was another very handy bonus. Breakfast overall was very good, with plenty of choice and good-quality food. It was a pity that, due to a strike, the hotel wasn’t able to provide the complimentary afternoon waffles during my stay. The hot breakfast options were also fairly limited, although everything available was fresh and enjoyable. The main downside was the noise. On weekend nights there was a lot of late-night noise from nearby bars and drunk people outside until around midnight, and throughout the week there were very loud seagulls overnight. Of course, this isn’t really something the hotel can control, but it’s worth noting that light sleepers or anyone sensitive to noise may want to keep it in mind before booking. Overall, though, I had a pleasant stay and appreciated the hotel’s comfort, character, and friendly atmosphere.

Hôtel bien situé. Déco un peu vieillotte mais grande chambre et lits confortables. Éviter une chambre au rez-de-chaussée côté rue car assez bruyant. L'eau chaude pendant la douche était quelques fois vascillante. Le petit déjeuner était OK mais sans plus. Le choix, comme partout en Norvège, était varié mais les oeufs brouillés étaient bien ordinaires. J'ai eu mieux ailleurs pendant mon séjour en Norvège.

Great location in the old bakery. Breakfast excellent with plenty of choice. We had a superior room which was lovely with a good shower. Free waffles every night downstairs.

It was a pleasant stay at Best Western Bakeriet, a charming and historic hotel with an interesting “bakery” heritage. As it’s an older building, one shouldn’t expect all the modern conveniences of a newer property, but overall it was well maintained despite a few quirks. For instance, there’s a small raised lip under the bathroom door that I repeatedly caught my toes on when exiting, and the TV never worked—no channels were available. This may have been related to the Wi-Fi, which was down for a few hours when we first checked in. The reception also doubles as the bar, which meant there were often long waits for check-in or to order a drink, as only one staff member was on duty at any given time. On the positive side, breakfast was very good, and the receptionist, Per, was especially helpful and professional, even though he seemed quite overworked. Well done to him.

Nice, clean, centrally located hotel. Interesting space in a former bakery built in 1897. Breakfast great in a cool room by the old baker’s ovens. Only minuses were that wiiFi was unapologetically down for the entire stay and TV broken, and one of the staff was rather curt and unhelpful — but I wouldn’t not stay there for that reason alone!

Great hotel!

A converted historic bakery, this hotel has a lot of unique structural features. However, the rooms, general facilities, and services are all up-to-date. Our shower was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. There is no air conditioning (not normally an issue here). The breakfasts are huge and have every possible bread, egg, fruit, and meat accompaniment, as well as specialties like chia pudding & oatmeal.

Had a really good stay at this hotel. Room was fine and breakfast was really good. Would recommend this hotel.
