great location. Tired decor.

I had a lovely stay at The Angel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the location is perfect, and the room was very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

The staff were lovely and the location was super convenient. The hotel has been knocked about - being next to the rugby stadium may contribute to high wear and tear - but everything in my room was clean and fine and comfortable. My only real complaint would be that the WiFi in the room was terrible and I had to go to the lobby to get work done. Great bath

This hotel has seen better days… the location is great but the rooms need a serious upgrade. The carpets desperately need to be replaced. The mattress was so used and worn that it almost folded like a taco when laying on it. Super noisy from people walking upstairs and slamming doors, and a cleaner vacuuming in the morning banged on the wall of my room a few times. There were mysterious drips and stains on the walls. Everything just felt really gross and grim and I’m glad I was only here for three nights as I didn’t sleep well at all. The staff were friendly though and the foyer is nice looking, I can tell it would’ve been a lovely hotel in its prime. Sad to see it has not been kept up very well.

Clean room and bedding, as always is the case in our experience at The Angel.

Our first room was really dirty, deep ingrained dirt and a general lack of everyday cleaning too. Luckily the kind manager moved us to a better room that was much cleaner. The staff are great, very friendly and the breakfast was reasonably good - but the building is very tired and and grubby with marked walls, peeling paint and dirty windows - which is such a shame because it is fabulously located and could be a real jewel in Cardiff's crown! The building is quite damp and this triggered one of our party's asthma so that is also something to consider when booking.

All staff on reception were very welcoming/helpful. The room was very nice and clean great shower too.

Room was clean and tidy. Staff very helpful when requested additional coffee and milk for the room. Used west gate street NCP with code and it was a bargain price for parking

An overall excellent stay, this is why we keep coming back when we stay in Cardiff. The only adverse comment this time was the breakfast on the second day of our stay. We had to wait for some of the food items and the bacon was somewhat hard, very unusual for this quality hotel, especially on the day when dining room Wass fairly quiet.

Room was alright. Nice and warm. Window was difficult to open and wouldn’t stay open. Bathroom was ok but bath was tiny even though it was supposed to be large. Couldn’t lie in it at all. Check in was easy and staff were friendly.

The only issue was internet kept going in and out and ended up going to sit in the lobby to do my emails, calls, etc. otherwise ideal location, comfy and stafff so friendly!

Warm welcome from reception staff upon arrival. We did not use the bar or restaurant area. Overall the property is in a ‘tired’ condition. One of the lifts was out of use throughout our stay and there was a broken window in our room which had been taped up. A refurbishment programme is needed to bring the hotel up to the standard expected for the price paid.

Beautiful hotel in an incredible spot. Right across the street from the castle and a block away from the heart of Cardiff. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was clean an enormous. I enjoyed my stay

This property is in need of an update, but the location is amazing, the staff friendly and helpful, the architecture of the building is beautiful.

I stay here regularly and the room I had on this occasion was appalling.pointless having a window, may as well have a hole in the wall and sleep on the street noise wise

You get what you pay for I'll say that much. Actually, I'll say this too: it looked like the hotel decided it's theme was "fancy".
