With limited properties in Charlottetown at the time of our booking, we went with Rodd Royalty. Not sure if every room was like this but the power outlets in our room only worked when the lights were on. Made it very difficult to re-charge after a day of navigating on the phones. Another quirk was that the inside was a converted outdoor hotel. So our room had a window to the hallway where the light was always on. The curtains blocked only so much of this light so our room was extremely bright and it was very difficult to sleep.

Whatever they were using for cleaner or air freshener was horrible. TV should of been larger, and ability to adjust for viewing.

The food at dining room was ok but it was later when we went To eat close to closing time and anything we asked for they did not have. Such as ceaser salad. The food was ok but I would not rave about it

Thirty years ago this was a nice place. The hotel is starting to show its age. The furniture and the drapery in the room needed updating. The mattress on one of our beds was also old. Parking is somewhat difficult here.

Rodd Royalty was overall, underwhelming. The Good: 1) The pool was great with lots of seating, towels, change room/washroom and shower as well as nice temp water and the slide was a lot of fun! 2) The kids’ game room was a nice surprise, though my kids didn’t use it. They have foosball, Nintendo switch and several games to choose from. 3) Staff and Room Cleanliness - these were definitely positives. 4) Wifi! A major plus for my gaming obsessed kids. The Cons: 1) The room was smallish and the computer desk encroached into the closet area that lead to the bathroom. It was a bit tight to manoeuvre through when my son was on his laptop at the desk. 2) Though advertised as a hotel, the section we stayed in was accessible by stairs only (not a big issue and we were aware upon reservation). It was apparent that our area was once a separate (motel) building with additions to add it to the main hotel. The carpets here were dingy and the light in the hallway was bright. The room had windows that faced the hall - but the curtains were inadequate to block the light at night. This seemed to be the ugly step-sister of the hotel… and for $350 for one night (Sunday), we expected more. I don’t feel like any photos accurately showed our area of the room/hotel. 3) Restaurant/Bar was closed Sunday when we wanted takeout but did have a complimentary breakfast in the morning which was decent. Nothing remarkable really, but definitely one of the better free ones we’ve had.

Was probably a great place at some point. It’s very expensive considering the outdated and unclean common areas. Our bed sheets had multiple stains and dirty and ripped carpet. WiFi is terrible and staff not courteous. Pick another hotel - very dissatisfied.

They do have a nice indoor pool and helpfull staff. However, I didn't found the room welcoming with the dark features ,window obstructed and the low quality amenities. Found a wood insect in the drawer, usually from humidity and old wood materials

There were 7 of us staying in the family room (number of guests were provided at the time of booking). The hotel only provided one tiny bottle of shampoo/conditioner for our entire group each day, which was not enough at all. The air conditioning was old and loud, and keeps turning off on its own. Maybe booking two separate rooms would be a better idea. At least we wouldn’t have to rush and wait in line to use the only bathroom.

Very quiet, but very dated and didnt look like it had been updated in quite sometime. The area our room was didnt have elevator access and was on the 2nd floor and seemed to be in an older part. We had to walk quite a distance, go up a creepy separate flight of stairs, through another section up a few stairs to our room. Wouldnt stay there again.

The property was fine but the internal appearance and furniture appears to be from the 1980-1990s, and not reflective of the class rating or what its competitors are offering, for the equivalent price. Effectively it’s not over rated. Breakfast was unacceptable; stale food and unhealthy. Limited choices. Coffee was not good; poorly brewed filter coffee. No espresso or high quality offer options. Better value to go to Tim’s, Starbucks, etc.
