Stayed many time over many years and always a lovely stay and great value for money. Didnt see usual staff at desk who usually recognise me and always offer a very warm welcome but all Staff We did meet were excellent, Our rooms were clean and comfortable as always. Nice feel and ambiance around the hotel. My only observation this time would be the corridors to and along the rooms is looking a little tired compared to rest of hotel so hopefully on plan to upgrade in 2026/27. However, this didnt detract from our usual lovely stay.

While this facility had a lot of high level amenities like and Elemis spa, squash court etc, they fall far short of acceptable in basic room accommodations. We specifically made sure the hotel had Air conditioning before booking and when we arrived confirmed again because the lobby was so hot. Even so, they checked us into a room they KNEW the air conditioning wasn’t working (they had put a fan in the room). After a bit of back and forth and waiting for the room to “cool” they agreed to move us. Keep in mind there are NO PHONES in the rooms so no way to call the front desk… each communication had to be in person and wait for others at desk to finish. The room had NO ELECTRIC, much less USB OR C hookups at the head of the bed. The “king” bed was also two twins shoved together which isn’t a problem IF you put a topper on the mattresses which they did not…. So YET ANOTHER trip to the front desk (because remember no phones) to get an extension cord which we had to run across the room and up the middle of the bed because we had two CPAPS that needed electric. The door jam between bathroom and other areas was a piece of wood which was not flush. I ended up jamming my toe on it so much so it bruised and swelled. Carpet was worn and stained Fire alarm went off at around 5:45am so we got to listen to it scream until the finally turned it off. The stay was a disaster….

The staff on reception were especially helpful and friendly. The bed was comfortable and clean. The room was tired and in need of renovation particularly the bathroom and the window which had a large gap around it when closed. Be warned the hotel is on two floors with no lift so if you have lots of luggage it is hard work taking it up two flights of stairs. Otherwise you can leave your cases with reception. The breakfast was poor, cold and not much choice.

The hotel feels tired and in need of refurbishment. The reception staff were very helpful and welcoming, which was a positive start to our stay. Unfortunately, the restaurant was disappointing. The food was acceptable, but the service was very slow. When we asked about the delay, we were simply told, “We’re busy,” which isn’t the level of customer service I’d expect. When it came time to pay, none of the card machines were working, which added to the frustration. The room also showed its age, with no plug sockets by the bedside, which is a basic convenience most guests now expect. Outside, the tables were covered with empty glasses and overflowing ashtrays, giving a poor impression. Behind the bar, there were numerous opened bottles left out, including rosé wine that should have been kept chilled. I also ordered a coffee, but the staff couldn’t even find a spoon. It’s disappointing to see how much this hotel has changed since my last visit three years ago. Sadly, based on this experience, I won’t be returning.

AC! As it was the hottest day of the year in June. Well until the following day, where it was still 31C at 9pm in Hampshire. Pool good, if a little small, I think I absorbed most of the water through my skin!
