Firstly the reception staff were rude and did not welcome us at all. The lift was broken baring in mind we are both 74 with disabilities. The beds were so uncomfortable, the kettle was broken albeit replaced. There was no house keeping at all apparently they don't have it. We were staying for 5 nights without a room clean, (not that we made a mess) no clean towels no toilet roll and when we asked at reception for these we were made to feel like school children. The food was inedible Breakfast and evening meal besides one morning. This was supposed to be a relaxing ladies trip and the hotel made our relaxion impossible and we wouldn't mind but this was not exactly cheap and by no means did we get the hospitality we paid for.

The room was basically a closet, actually didn’t even have a room number.. The room was Identified by M5…. Stayed 5 days, no one ever came to even make the bed.. Room had no windows, dark and really unacceptable for even half the price.. I stay in hotels around 100 nights per year, this is the worst I’ve seen in over 30 years, including China, India and many other places

A nice historic hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, we had a family room with 3 single beds. The bathroom had been updated and was fresh, the beds were comfortable enough but there was no air con and therefore the room was incredibly warm The in room furniture and amenities were functional but a little dated

Very misleading, booked an executive twin room (supposed to be recently refurbished) was put in a single room with no windows located between the stairway and the lift. More like a closet with bed and a toilet. After complaining was moved to a dilapidated twin room. Room was not serviced had to request fresh towels. Feels like a scam planned to take advantage of the event happening in town during our stay.

Old hotel with lots of character. Rooms are just okay and hotel needs a little TLC, but we enjoyed our stay. Staff very helpful.

We had our third stay at the prince of wales. It was a late booking. We were located on the forth floor. The lift was broken on arrival so we offered the service lift which only went to the third floor. No assistance was offered for us to get our luggage up the final floor despite my husband being 78 and myself 71. We paid extra for our small dog but no provision was made for a dining table in the par area as in previous visits. We had to eat from drinks tables. Due to extreme weather conditions we had to have the provided fan running continuously to make it bearable in our room. The windows in the room were high accessible only by standing on a chair. One at least had to be closed due to seagulls and pigeons roosting at night. The noise was sleep disturbing every night. I think our stays at the Prince of Wales hotel have sadly come to an end.

I booked a Superior Double Room for Saturday, but on arrival I was informed that none were available and that we would have to take a twin room, as it was all they had left. No refund or reduction in price was offered. Carly on reception was very helpful and, I suspect, somewhat embarrassed when she showed us the room, which had a strange smell. To compensate, we were offered complimentary dinner and breakfast, so we decided to stay as we had already paid and were there. In hindsight, that was our first mistake. We went upstairs for dinner, only to find a hot buffet that could best be described as poor care-home standard. We decided to eat elsewhere instead. When we returned around midnight and entered our room, we were greeted by what can only be described as the overwhelming smell of raw sewage. I went back to reception, where I was told they were aware of the issue and that "it does stink." Chris on reception was very helpful and showed us an alternative room, which looked as though it had come straight out of Azkaban. We declined that one and were then shown a second room, which was the last available option, so we reluctantly accepted it. Despite the uncomfortable, straw-filled-feeling mattresses, we eventually managed to get some sleep. The next morning, we skipped breakfast and left. This hotel is a place that time forgot. Given that it is housed in such a magnificent historic building, the overall experience was incredibly disappointing. The building deserves fa

I was very disappointed with this booking. We were moved to Royal Clifton Hotel due to no family room available and they made a mistake of booking. That was disappointing and Royal Clifton Hotel room was not clean, window was broken, room was full of dust and manager informed that he can't move me to another room due to no rooms available. Disappointed stay. Room was full of dust. House keeping staff were cleaning out room while we were in the room. Highly dissatisfied customer
