The standard double room was much smaller than expected, and the bed was two singles pushed together with a thin double topper, which made the bed very uncomfortable and lumpy. We told reception after the first night and they arranged for a better topper to be put on. If the standard double was this small then the small double must have been tiny. The bathroom was a good size though. Rooms are only cleaned if specifically requested at reception the night before. This wasn't made clear - there is some wording in the room but it is not prominent (i.e. it is hidden in a bigger laminated notification), and as a minimum we should have been told this by reception on check in (which did not happen). Car parking is £5 per 24 hours and the hotel itself and rooms could do with some refurbishment.

It is an older property. the rooms are a bit outdated such as very few plugs and none near the beds, but the price reflects this

A great building, beautiful rooms and great staff .

The hotel has has a recent upgrade and looks amazing. Set in beautiful grounds and walking distance stroll into town. Upon arrival we had a lovely welcome by staff and our room was lovely too. The stairs are beautiful and the facilities and areas around the ground floor of the hotel are really comfortable and relaxing to enjoy. Parking is only £5 for 24 hours and the staff are so friendly and helpful.

Lovely old property in need of some TLC. My room was in the basement so was a bit fusty but the bed was comfy and there was lots of hot water for showering.

Very old and dirty hotel. Furniture broken and old. Have to wait 30 min for the water to warm up before you can take a shower. Breakfast very bad cooked. Heating not working in my room and when asked for heater I didn’t get one.Windows don’t close stayed in 2 rooms you can open them from outside not safe to leave the personal belongings in the room.

What you'd expect from the somewhat faded grandeur of the place and the price. It provided all we needed. Furniture basic and a bit dates but functional. Bathroom faulty new but obviously using basic fittings. Rooms not serviced unless you stay more than 2 nights and then request it. Need to pay extra for parking and pool. Breakfast fine.

Lovely room, wasn't far to walk to either. Lovely tall ceilings and hotel decorated nicely. Nice breakfast and very welcoming reception desk. Lady also helpful in returning my phone charger. Many thanks

Everything (pool, parking etc) involves extra charges so beware. It was once a magnificent building but badly needs updating. Our room was very institutional and tired and bathroom knackered. And didn't like the fussy signs everywhere telling you what you can and can't do. Pool etc cost extra and was very crowded. No towels provided. Sauna and steam room were tiny.

Last minute room only deal which was very reasonable for a Friday night. Hotel was very central and parking for £5 very reasonable. Weather was lovely so we didn’t get time to use the Swimming pool (which was £6 each). We enjoyed sitting on the lovely lawn area having drinks.

Everything was fine. Perfect for a one night getaway in the beautiful town of Buxton. The reason I've marked down re cleanliness was that the windows need a good clean. Thank You

Nice enough, can't complain. Great building. Tidy room, somewhat lacking in power sockets. Disappointing bed and bathroom for the grade of room we had - executive superior. Average breakfast. All good, just not amazing.

Great stay in a beautiful area…ending up booking an extra night.
