Everything was fine. Perfect for a one night getaway in the beautiful town of Buxton. The reason I've marked down re cleanliness was that the windows need a good clean. Thank You

Had an overnight stay on a short visit to Buxton. The hotel is ideally located and had parking at a reasonable cost. Close to town centre etc. As it was only a quick stop we went for one of the cheaper rooms. It was a good sized double with large bathroom and tea/ facilities and biscuits, obviously didn’t have much of a view as it was a lower priced room. Breakfast was included in the cost and was very good plenty to choose from and freshly cooked. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Would certainly use the hotel again.

Everything (pool, parking etc) involves extra charges so beware. It was once a magnificent building but badly needs updating. Our room was very institutional and tired and bathroom knackered. And didn't like the fussy signs everywhere telling you what you can and can't do. Pool etc cost extra and was very crowded. No towels provided. Sauna and steam room were tiny.

Last minute room only deal which was very reasonable for a Friday night. Hotel was very central and parking for £5 very reasonable. Weather was lovely so we didn’t get time to use the Swimming pool (which was £6 each). We enjoyed sitting on the lovely lawn area having drinks.

Nice enough, can't complain. Great building. Tidy room, somewhat lacking in power sockets. Disappointing bed and bathroom for the grade of room we had - executive superior. Average breakfast. All good, just not amazing.

I expected old and mismatched furniture so not a problem. However, positioning of the tv was ridiculous as there was no way to actually watch the tv while sitting/lying! Another silly thing was the full sized kettle wouldn’t fit under the tap to fill. Had to use the cup to transfer water into the kettle. Charging parking as extra seems churlish.

The staff were genuinely pleasant, welcoming. The room itself was, clean, and comfortable… although sadly we seem to have been given what can only be described as “the broom cupboard suite.” I half expected Gordon the Gopher and Philip Schofield to pop out from behind the kettle and ask if there was room for one more. To say it was cosy would be generous — opening the suitcase basically became the room’s main event. That said, the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel really did make up for the lack of space. A very enjoyable stay overall — just pack light unless you fancy sleeping standing up like Gordon in the cupboard!

When I checked in, I was informed that my reservation that was of a lower class than normal (still don’t quite understand what was meant) I was then asked if I wanted a room on the ground floor and I said yes. I was then told that the room had no windows. (basically a cupboard.) I refused that room and was then designated another room at the very top of the building having to navigate corridors and the very narrow steep staircase no wider than my body. The window of the room was literally at floor level and about 2 foot high I then complained to reception that it was unacceptable And was relocated to a room in the main foyer on the first floor Constant noise all night with people past in the room Not a very nice atmosphere at the hotel shall not be rebooking that hotel again

Usual quick and easy check-in. Room was clean and tidy. The only problem I found with my room was that it was very hot when I arrived. This was due to the thermostatic valve on the radiator being slightly broken and not fully closing the hot water inlet. Luckily I managed to re-seat the valve, although it did move and open slightly during the night. As I had to leave early in the morning there was no-one on Reception to inform to ensure this was fixed for the next guest.

Expedia listing did not say the room I booked was basically a basement prison cell without the benefit of a window. Horrible. No one answers the phone at this property. When you call the number on Google you get charged, even if you hang up the moment you hear the voice saying you’ll be charged. Car Park blocked by bad parker , despite telling the front desk, car did not move so I had to park off site. Never stay at any hotel managed by this chain for the sketchy phone system alone. I have >£2 of charges which isn’t a lot of money in the big picture, but not something hotel guests should ever have to pay, especially when I hung up right away It was the local number I found that no one ever picked up. Bad.
