Nice hotel, good location

Booked the penthouse for our special day and it wasn't what I was was expecting, room was large but a bit dated surprised there were no USB on the room, carpet needed a good clean, pipes expo in the bathroom, silicone in bathroom was dirty, the view was the car park and grounds, but the biggest let down was the booking in the room should have been ready for 3pm however it wasn't ready until 4:30 making out pre booked meal a little tight infact I cancelled the booked meal as we wouldn't have made it in time, again really not what I expected especially for the price

Our first room has plasters on the fire alarm, requested a room move , this happened and the bed was so hard we didn’t get much sleep, in the morning we requested housekeeping put a mattress topper on the bed , as they didn’t know , put one on each bed instead of 2 on the bed we were sleeping in , used the iron in the room on the morning resulting in a burn mark on my shirt , used the pool facilities and the ladies showers were awful with mould on the ground and silicone , Not a nice stay , although York was a beautiful city, breakfast was lovely , staff understood our issues

This is a lovely hotel, we enjoyed our stay here. The only reason I’ve given a 4* not a 5* review is that there were no accessible parking spaces available on the Saturday evening when we returned for the night, as wedding guests had chosen to park there without blue badges. Not the hotel’s fault, but they did nothing about it. Our room was great - the accessible shower had a chair rather than the drop down seat I often find in accessible bathrooms. A chair feels safer. The room was big enough to turn my scooter round so that I could drive forward out of the room rather than have to reverse. The staff were very friendly.

The breakfast was very good, with absolutely everything everyone could want to eat and drink. The room was spotless and comfortable. Staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. We'll definitely be back.

Had a relaxing 2 night stay, the room and bathroom was immaculately clean, we had a great night sleep the bed and pillows were perfect. The whole stay was so close to getting a 10 out of 10 except for 1 thing, in the room was an ice bucket with a card saying if u want ice, phone room service and it will be brought to the room, so I rang they said no problem, anyways am home now and got my own, jokes aside I don't understand why answer the phone if u have no intentions to bring it, then ignore the phone calls,which in fairness you should of done in the first place.

Poor check in experience, room was not ready and after a wait to check in faced with a massive check in queue. Quality of restaurant food left a lot to be desired, especially rubbery fish and chips. Only one working elevator also.

The room was clean, the staff was nice, the swimming pool schedule is good, down side my child got a rush from the chemicals on it. We could have cleaning, but as it was just 3 days we decided not to have it, however we thought that cleaning was for beds and they would still check rubbish and fill the sachets of tea and coffee, but nope. If we needed something we needed to requested it. The hotel is old but in good state, the sink of our bathroom was broken with cracks on it, however worked fine. I couldn't understand the pictures in the frames that they have, it is like a patch work from a magazine made in primary school, I couldn't catch the combination with the rest of the decoration, but that doesn't matter. We didn't eat there, prices and menu were not interesting for us.

Expedia failed to advise the hotel that we had paid for dinner, bed and breakfast. The hotel had only been told bed and breakfast. This caused unecessary hassle and persisted throughout our stay. This is something Expedia caused and wasn't the hotels fault.

The staff are very welcoming. The hotel is very clean and the room is spotless and spacious. The breakfast was delicious and we will be returning.
