The staff was excellent and very attentive. They showed us the are and helped with finding stores and locations to visit in the area. The room and view was great. The restaurant and bar were nice and we felt entertained staying at the hotel for the evening. The breakfast Buffett in the morning was amazing.

We loved that the hotel was on the edge of Siena, but just inside the city wall, so that we could drive right up to the hotel and park but then walk easily anywhere in the city. The hotel itself was lovely, with fantastic staff and excellent breakfast. Our room was clean, very comfortable, with nice decor. We would definitely return to the Hotel Athena - perfect for us in Siena.

The hotel has free parking but that is pretty much all in terms of pluses. The layout of the hotel is strange, the rooms are dated, the bed is uncomfortable.

Nice hotel and close to the plaza.

We had an excellent experience at Hotel Athena. We chose this hotel mostly because they had car parking included and the room price was reasonable, not knowing much else about where to stay in Siena. The town center is a short walk from the hotel and the staff was very helpful. They recommended a restaurant that was one of the best places we ate on our trip to Italy. Beautiful views from the rooftop restaurant as well.

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. The property is not quite as rustic as some of the others in Siena - it looks like it was updated inside about 10-15 years ago but it’s still in wonderful shape - just not quite rustic or very modern. Coming from a hotel the night before that was also wonderful but rustic I found the better AC and more modern interior amenities a welcome change. I was in a nice big room on the 8th floor with a stunning view from the window and a soaker tub and we loved it. The staff is what really makes this property stand out and why I’d not consider staying anywhere else in Siena next time I come. From the bellhop who parked my car and brought my luggage up - remembering our names two days later when he had to get the car. From the wonderful lady at the front desk who upgraded my room for a tiny fee when she found out we were on our honeymoon. They even got me a reservation that very same night (Saturday of Palio!) at a Osteria da Divo.

It’s ok for a base in Siena. Free parking definitely a bonus. But the hotel itself is very dated, and has dated attitudes to waste management. I don’t need a new plastic tumbler, wrapped in a piece of plastic, every morning. Nor do I need the same with plastic teaspoons. Breakfast was really quite disappointing. Wish we had opted out of that (if available ) and got breakfast somewhere else. Staff were lovely though, and check-in / out all very smooth.

Older, more traditional style but excellent hotel. The staff are amazing, super kind and helpful. We were really impressed, and would definately stay here again.

Amazing staff and phenomenal food and views

All the staff were professional, friendly, and helpful. Serena was particularly outstanding, helping us with everything from dinner reservations, to self-service laundry location, to onward travel bus arrangements when "work in progress" disrupted the train schedule. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and excellently located. Breakfast was a superb range of sweet and savory buffet, and dinner on the terrace was delicious (wirh a grand view).
