Interesting and beautiful hotel set in lovely parkland and gardens. Good food in the brasserie and useful to know that one of the three restaurants is open each day. Plenty of parking and an hour from Calais so an excellent stopover.

Lovely chateau hotel full of charm. No Aircon in bedroom though they did supply a fan. Limited spirits at bar & no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. However, these minor gripes did not spoil our stay, would definitely recommend it 👍

Room 108 - the shower could benefit from 'grabbars' for guests in their 80s

The building is impressive, our room was large and clean. There were nice touches such as slippers, bath robes and toiletries. The lounge areas were deserted on the first day of our stay , giving the whole place the ambiance of a museum. The following day saw an influx of guests and the life of the place lifted considerably. There are cards and board games available but you needed to ask as nothing is offered. Breakfast was confusing, there was a standard and uninspiring continental breakfast but we were not told that there were hot food options on request. The opening times for the restaurants are rather limited with only the distillery restaurant available during our stay. The food at the restaurant was good but the menu was the same for lunch as well as dinner. We had been looking forward to walking around the garden which looks impressive in the hotel details. Unfortunately the garden and the tennis courts were, as a earlier review mentioned , rather tired and unmaintained. We cut our stay short.

Our room was nicely decorated and clean. The breakfast was very nice and served in a beautiful dining room. Unfortunately, a wedding was taking place the day we checked in. The wedding festivities continued (loud music, louder singing and screaming) until 4 am!!!! Tried to contact staff from 1 am but no one was available. I understand the wedding guests were happily celebrating but a cutoff time (such as midnight) should have been a part of the wedding venue agreement. The following day when I spoke to reception about the noise and our lack of sleep, I was told they could not prohibit the wedding guests from partying all night long! We were a party of 6 adults, staying in 3 rooms. We were very disappointed with our stay and the lack of involvement by the hotel staff. We will not be recommending this hotel or returning.

This beautiful building is clean and lovely ambience . Room and bathroom good size and what you expect from very large old hotel odd things like some worn carpets paint worked chippped but nothing awful . The staff who greeted us young lady on reception on Friday 1st May pm was so attentive and young man who served us drinks again lovely and polite and speaks a lot of languages . The food in the restaurant on site superb and the young waitress was so lovely again . Excellent value for money !!!!

A charming hotel from an older era with 2 excellent restaurants. Furnishings are a little dated and hot water takes a long time to reach the bathroom, but that just adds to it’s faded elegance.

Nice hotel good facilities. Disappointed that when we arrived, the rooms were cold although it was freezing out requested an extra heater which was promptly delivered

Room was ok, bit draughty. Otherwise fine. Hotel is old so it’s to be expected.

Looking for an experience in France where you feel rich but on a budget? Look no further! Very impressed with the rooms, amenities and service! Would come again, just keeping in mind local restaurants speak very little French but the staff at the Chateau were very accommodating with a great breakfast.

We have stayed a few times before but this time found the service less satisfactory. Welcome at reception was polite but no warmth. We asked about the heating in our room which hadn’t come on. The receptionist said she would come back to us but we had no response. Eventually it came on automatically. Leaves a bad impression.

Lovely ambience and excellent dining. Only issue was they couldn’t give us a twin room so we had to manage with a double Apparently you must specially request a twin in advance

Nice chateau hotel, creaking boards and all. Very comfortable, nice room and bed, clean bathroom, however.... the service in the Robert 2 gastronomic restaurant was nothing short of awful, not due to the sole waitress who didn't stop for the 3 hours we were there, but the lack of staff and service. Food excellent when it arrived. We took the wine pairings, however with our finished entree plates in front of us for 45 minutes before a further 30 mins for the main course the wine pairing with the entree had long been consumed. The room service was poor. We were left without a toilet roll for our last day (we stayed 3 nights), and the upturned wine glasses were not clean, smelled strongly of stale wine! On our arrival the check-in queue was long with long waits - lack of staff. The hotel is showing signs of decline. Hopefully they can turn it around.

I love this place. It is not in any sense luxurious but it is extraordinary to be able to stay in a Mediaeval Chartreuse, where some of the most powerful men in France once lived life at a level that not many other people can have dreamed of. ( possibly the king!) Lots of people want to come here and it is a draw for weddings, Conferences etc. which needs to be factored in. But the staff were very charming and friendly and very human. It was a pleasure to spend time with a couple of them. We have visited three times and it is now very firmly on our map! It is a wonderful space.
