We were there for 3 nights but a broken window latch never got fixed, allowing cold air to flow in. Also, we could hear the bedtime activities of the neighbors next to the wall by our bed. In addition we could hear every word and tossed item during an argument that our other neighbors had in the middle of the night. They were in a room attached to ours with an adjoining door. The restaurant was good as were the fast food options in the attached food court.

Parking & location good. Noise level and lack of noise dampening efforts is abysmal. Rooms don’t get cleaned - they make beds & empty what fits in the bin but nothing beyond that. If you order room service you better throw your dishes in the hallway or you’ll stare at them for your stay in your room. As guests staying for 10 nights it was disgusting to not have the floors swept nor vacuumed & room counters not cleaned for the whole stay (we had to switch rooms so yay for us we got a clean room midway). Yuck, otherwise. Putting vacation guests in adjoining rooms with highway/construction workers who wake up at 0600hrs rather than with vacation guests that have booked together is just stupidity at best. Was the lowlight of our vacation & wouldn’t recommend. Avoid unless you’re maybe stopping in for one night for rest if you’re actually on a vacation especially if you’re used to N. American standards including MX mid range AI. Otherwise - a crap motel with a decor refresh. Bonus, if you have allergies to perfume/cologne, avoid this place… you’d choke upon entry and every time you come and go as front desk is competing with the duty free for unbreathable air.

Could not have been a less warm welcome from a chap visibly annoyed that we'd interrupted his phone scrolling. No information given, had to ask where breakfast would be (his tone suggested that was entirely obvious "in the restaurant")... Signage not on walls, sparse cold reception, dirty stairs, the handrail was disgusting... and this looks to be a relatively new hotel too. Room was fine, clean and comfortable but beware of the heating clunking in from around 5am.... if you want a couldn't care less hotel then this is the place to stay. We won't be staying again and frankly it's put us off Maldron altogether as a previously frequent guest on our very frequent teips to Ireland.

They were doing some renovations in the hallways so that was a bit messy. On the flip side, its nice that they are doing renovations. The room was a good size, clean, and comfortable. We never did get a chance to use the pool.

Hotel spotless and easy to get to/from and park. Only stayed one night and had early start so didn’t get to use the pool or gym which was a shame as it looked great. Will def stay again next time we’re in Port Laois.

The rooms interconnect so we were able to have our family of 5 stay together which was a big bonus. Most of the other properties gave us rooms near each other, not what I wanted. It’s ok since my kids aren’t toddlers but I preferred the connecting. So big bonus to stay here. Also the kids loved the breakfast here. Be aware the price has increased even though it is not listed. Still worth it though. I enjoyed the location near a launderette, gas station, and food options. Noise level and beds were good too. Room is spacious and I appreciated the table and chairs.

Run of the mill hotel, ok for a short overnight. Totally overpriced at €190 room only. The receptionist told us on both days we stayed that the restaurant was extremely busy so booking was essential, and on the 2nd night told us no tables were available between 7pm amd 8.30pm. On both occasions when we went to the restaurant during the "busy/full" times the restaurant was at about 25% capacity. Bizarre!

Overall a great experience. Very friendly, kind, helpful staff; Very clean hotel and room; Amazing breakfast! Full Irish breakfast and more! One problem is the lack of A/C and ventilation in the room. Not having A/C seems common in Ireland, which makes sense since it hardly ever gets very warm. However, the room still got pretty stuffy with 4 people in it, and the window only opened a few inches, plus we could not leave it open all night since we were on the first floor, with a flat roof right there, where birds or anything else that could fit in a small space could easily get in, given that there are no screens. The fan was helpful but it was still too warm and stuffy to sleep with any covers on. Also the pool was fantastic, but we initially had trouble accessing it with our kids after finding out that no children were allowed in after 7PM—which is right when we arrived. This policy was not clearly explained on the website—it only said the kids area would close by 7. Fortunately, the very kind staff accommodated us for a short swim nonetheless, given the circumstances.

This hotel is essentially at a motorway services. But is far nicer than many motorway service hotels in the UK. Nice rooms, comfy bed, good wifi and slept well. Even though my room over looked the motorway it was soundproofed which was good. I didnt eat here but there was a foodcourt in the services and also another services just a few minutes away. Interestingly though, in my room (215) there is clear evidence that the door to the room and bathroom have clearly been forced open. I hope whatever happened everyone was OK, but fix it and fix it properly as its disconcerting to wonder what might have happened in that room.
