Perfect stop for 1-2 nights, or if you only need a place to sleep and grab breakfast before visiting the region. It’s a bit isolated and does not have much amenities (such as pool), but it’s clean, comfortable, quiet and the front desk&staff is very nice and helpful.

The hotel is located 20mins wall from the center. There is no pool in the hotel but 3kms away. Very off location. The bed is so hard as well as the pillow. We woke up with stiff neck.

The lobby was not impressive, however our room was perfect. Good air conditioning, comfortable bed and strong shower. The breakfast buffet had a large variety of foods available. We would stay here again.

We stayed 2 nights - one of our criteria for selection was the free parking outside the city walls, and this worked out very well. Quick walk to an entry to the walled city. One note - the booking site said the room came with free breakfast and there is signage in the room that says this, however we ended up somehow selecting an option that did NOT come with free breakfast (was 5 euros per person per day). Aside from this the room was advertised.

Service was good but the overall ambiance was very strange. It felt like and old age home or rehab center. Bed was a bit hard for my tastes.

We felt fortunate to find this hotel for the night of the Andrea Boccelli concert. The hotel is a convenient 30 minutes from the Teatro de Silenzio in Lajatico. The hotel reception had helpful information on driving and parking for the concert too. They also gave us information on how to approach our visit to nearby Volterra and a great restaurant recommendation. The hotel staff seem very integrated with the local area and opportunities there. Volterra is also such a great little town with a lot to see, wish we could have had more time there! The room was very spacious with a balcony and good A C. The bed was fairly hard. We couldn’t get connected to WiFi no matter what we tried to do, so that was too bad. The parking lot was convenient, spacious and free!

The cost of the room was fantastic as were the staff of the hotel. The bed was a bit on the hard side, it would be great if you offered a pillow topper for the be for those of us that like a softer bed.

No frill room - almost college dorm room style. Great price though for family of four. Nice outdoor patio for dining and breakfast. Dinner was decent and reasonable. Breakfast was standard Italian (perfectly fine). All the staff I encountered were pleasant.

From the outside it looked a little grim, however the welcome was very warm and the room spacious, cool and airy with a little balcony overlooking fields at the back. The teenagers had bunk beds and ours was large and comfy. It is a little outside the town and at night the walk back was a bit eerie - however the appearance of fireflies dancing along the road in front of us turned it into a magical experience. The breakfasts were the usual fare but with nice home made cake - and we ate there one evening and we were surprised at the quality of the food and how reasonable it was. The staff were extremely accommodating

A decent hotel, in a good location. You need a car though, and your own pillow as they were uncomfortable.

We were impressed by the Hotel Foresteria Volterra. The staff were all friendly, informal and helpful and there was a relaxed atmosphere at all times. Our rooms were spacious, clean with good bathrooms and plenty of towels and toiletries. They also had beautiful views of rolling Tuscan hills and efficient and quiet air-conditioning. And such a peaceful location! Our only suggestion for the rooms is to decorate them a little more - a couple of pictures on the wall would be beneficial. The hotel has a nice courtyard which can be used for breakfast or other meals or just drinks. The restaurant provides good food at lunch and dinner if required. The hotel is a little tricky to find, but just follow the signs from the main road east of Volterra centre. It's not walking distance from the town centre, but you can drive and park or, more easily, get a taxi. This is a three star hotel, so no extravagant luxuries, but a very decent place to stay, with friendly people.

I was going to leave a good review because the girl at the front desk was so nice but the next mroning at 7:30 am, the maid banged on the door and told us we must leave within the next 20 minutes so she could clean the room! I have stayed at hundreds of hotels and we usually check out around 9 am, but the posted time is 11 am. I have never had the maid demand we leave by 8 am. Very unprofessional!
