Very nice place to stay for the price. Clean, safe, and right in the middle of everything. That was the only down side though too as people were partying until 5am and it was not quiet. Great breakfast at the Victoria hotel nearby.

Cost effective. We are satisfied.

We did not like the room space it was so very small for four beds, also they did not say in expedia that you need to pick up the room keys in another location, they do not have front desk at this location.

Great location with provably 6-10 options for food and drink within a stone's throw and what seems like a million more in a short walk. The downside, don't expect any sleep before 3am as there are pubs right below the rooms.

Filthy. Expedia should be ashamed to list this property. I will be asking for refund!!

Hostel Matheu is a part of a bigger hostel chain called Victoria 4. You still need to check in at that location if you want to stay at the other hostel. The staff are very friendly and know Spanish and English. The location itself is around a bunch of restaurants and shopping. It is also about a 12 minute walk to the palace. I only got to stay here for one night, but it did the trick!

Clean, budget-friendly, walking distance from lots of sites, quiet.

Great Location and very accessible to the Puerta del Sol

Very basic room in the heart of the gothic quarter. Very easy access areas around Madrid. Only negative is the noise I'd say. Our room faced the street which was noisy all night long with people, a dance club, trash pick up etc going on. But for the price and location it was good for us; take a noise machine with you and you'll be alright

Muy buena ubicación! Habitación muy básica, pero limpia, un poco ruidoso dentro del hostal se escucha cuando la gente camina por el pasillo, pero seguro me volvería a quedar allí mismo.

If you want to experience "La Fiesta" around the Madrid area, this is the place to stay. If you are planning to rest, you better look for another option. This hostal is located around a lot of rest & bars and you will be hearing, music, people talking and laughing loud all night even if the doors and windows are closed. For the purpose of my trip, the place met my needs.

Very noisy neighborhood with bar under the hostel so very loud. Parties until 6 am.

If you want a quiet area don’t stay here Was just 1 min from puerta de sol was very centric

Great location right off Sol, 15% discount off the Carmela resto and lots of great restos in 2 block radius

Best place for tourists, near of everything, restaurants shops. Only one thing,’AC is not ok after this paradise
