One of the declining number of traditional 3/4 star village/small town hotels that are being replaced by the bland massive chains The staff were brilliant, especially Head Waitor Luc who was charming, interesting and very helpful. The village with its castle is very run down with a large derelict hospital, numerous closed hotels and empty shops, but still worth a visit as a stop over.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE Appalling. Notified as disabled.Access is either via stairs or by exiting hotel and walkinG up the road. Relegated to an annexe, bed to high, had to lift my wife into bed. Menu limted and disgusting. Stayed 2 out of 6 nights . Left refusing to pay.

We had a great time at this property. It is a lovely old building with beautiful inner courtyards and an excellent restaurant. There is an outdoor pool which my husband took advantage of and the hotel is located next to a spa. Unfortunately the spa is closed at the moment for renovations with no date given for reopening. The bedroom was well decorated and the bed extremely comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Bourbon L’Archambault is an interesting historical town and well worth a visit. We would gladly return to this hotel for further explorations.

We couldn't stay at the hotel as the manager was unacceptably rude and unhelpful.

Very good experience, The standard room was a mini suite with kitchenette. The outside pool is not very big but very pleasant with a great view.

The hotel is beautifully presented and clean! Dinner in the restaurant was exceptional!! Breakfast is available at extra cost but recommended as it was really good! Some of the staff spoke English but it helps if you are prepared to speak a little French! Our dog was welcome and they were pleased to see her!! We would have liked coffee facilities in our room.

The hotel is an old stone built building dating back several hundred years. There is a good town walk, map from local TI, which has fantastic views of the town and its castle

The place was horribly second rate at first rate prices. The bathroom was so filthy we did not bath or shower.

It was fantastic! It is a little out of the way but we’ll worth the drive. A beautiful town with many restaurants, very quaint. We just wished we had another day there!

Situated on the square in a small friendly town with historic connections to the Bourbons. We were extremely well looked after during our stay. The evening menu was excellent quality and good value too. The lovely terrasse & pool provided great relaxation.

What a pleasure to stay in such a wonderful individual hotel. It has it's own charm, is beautifully decorated and has an extremely calm, relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant is fabulous and the food very generous, expertly cooked, local to the area and seasonal.

My husband and I used this hotel as an overnight stay on the way to Calais, it was a better alternative than our usual overnight stays in motorway hotels! The town was difficult to get in and out of because of the numerous one way road and lacked effective signposts. The hotel, although beautiful and quite pretty on the outside has a rather faded grandeur feeling inside. Our room was in an annex and was clean and tidy and the decor was rather old fashioned. We had dinner in the restaurant which was absolutely delicious and was traditional french style, the service was excellent and the waitresses were lovely.

Problem was that we thought the lace was within walking distance of the town, it wasnt! The pool spa didnt open until 0900H, far to late for a swim and sauna before breakfast, 0730 would have been a better time. Breakfast was an expensive extra, and wine at the table (considering it is France) was also expensive, even house wines. Two errors in the check out account, being charged for things we had not had too. In general hotel was clean and functioned reasonable well other than the observations above.
