First, this hotel's location is even more amazing than it appears on the map; it is about half a kilometer from dozens of restaurants with food styles from around the world. Second, the people running the hotel are knowledgeable, friendly, and wildly multilingual. This hotel is their passion project. The downstairs dining area is also a pleasant place to write or to eat food brought in from outside restaurants. The rooms themselves are small but cute. Expect European-sized instead of American-sized rooms. The bed is comfortable. The reason the hotel gets four stars instead of five is something that *cannot* be fixed. Although this hotel has only 19 rooms, it has five stories (including the ground floor.) The staircase is narrow and steep, with narrow steps. There is no elevator. Anyone who has problems with carrying their luggage up staircases should look elsewhere. If you are fit, if you don't mind going up staircases every time you come back, then I recommend the Hotel La Boheme.

The staff is super friendly and helpful, really just the best. The reception area is cozy, there's free coffee, and the breakfast (which I did not have because of time constraints) looked very fresh and appealing, with lots of variety. I did have their yogurt one day...such a generous bowl with granola, blueberries, nuts, and seeds for less than 5€. My room was in the basement with a shared bathroom. It had a window onto the courtyard and was small, but had everything I needed. Two items to note: first, the stairs, as is common in Amsterdam, are VERY steep. There is no lift. I managed well with a backpack and rolling carryon bag, but I could imagine that a large suitcase might be a challenge. Second, there was a lot of foot traffic noise from the ground floor, creaking boards and the like. If you are a light sleeper you might want to bring ear plugs or use ear buds. I would definitely stay here again. The location is great, and there is a tram stop outside. Lots of restaurants nearby, and easy walking distance to the Jordaan, the Rijksmuseum and lots of other sightseeing.

We stayed for 3 nights and were met by friendly, courteous staff every morning. The breakfast was excellent. Plenty of fresh fruits. On our first morning, I asked the staff if the granola was gluten free ( it was), and the staff immediately asked if I needed gluten free bread. They brought out GF bread and GF croissant on a separate plate, then noted it on the reservation so it was brought to our table automatically for the next two mornings. They also offered GF cereal. I had an oat milk latte every morning and it was great! Much better than Cafe Americain across the street. The location was perfect for us: walkable everywhere and easy access to the tram. We had a room on the 4th floor. The room was on the smaller side but clean. Amsterdam was having a heat wave during our visit, and since our room faced the street, it had the full sun most of the day and got intensely hot even with the curtains closed. We asked for an extra fan and were given a small portable one, which helped. We stayed out most of the day. There were some books in the room and I enjoyed browsing through them. Unfortunately, due to a combination of the heat and the old building's plumbing, our bathroom smelled a bit like a sewer. We had to keep the bathroom door closed so the smell wouldn't spread into the room. We talked to the staff but not much could be done.

I’m so glad I found this place to stay. As a solo traveler, I felt welcome and comfortable from the very beginning. The room was perfect. I booked a twin room (very nice and clean!) with two small beds, one of it is right under a large window. I loved lying in bed, enjoying the sun and the streetview. All of the staff were very friendly and kind. They immediately checked the issue with the hot water in the shower and even offered me another room—thank you so much for that! The cat Jacky is absolutely lovely and (sometimes 😉) likes to play. I will definitely book this hotel again! If you are visiting Amsterdam and looking for a hotel where you feel extremely comfortable and would like to stay longer, you should definitely book this hotel :)

I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The price was reasonable for what you get, and the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my visit. The location is good, especially if you don’t mind a walk of about 30 minutes to reach main attractions. The only downside was that the bathroom was quite small. Overall, a solid choice for a comfortable stay.
