Mahekal Beach Resort was everything I hoped for and more. From the moment you arrive, you feel transported into a peaceful, bohemian oasis tucked right along the beach. The resort strikes the perfect balance between laid-back luxury and natural beauty—lush gardens, sandy pathways, and charming bungalow-style rooms that make it feel intimate and authentic rather than resorty. The location is unbeatable: steps from the ocean, yet close enough to walk into town when you want a bit of buzz. Waking up to the sound of the waves and enjoying mornings with ocean views felt surreal. The pools were beautiful and never overcrowded, and the beach setup was relaxed and inviting.

They room was noisy as it next to busy street.Furnishings outdated and bathroom floor gets completely soaked every shower. I asked for queen beds and upon checkin had king only double was this disaster. Their hot tubs were cold tubs and unless youre cute or have a handful of tip money beach waiters could care less about serving. Wouldnt recommend completelysoakedake

Mahekal is our home away from home and we always recommend them as a great resort to stay at. We have stayed at the resort 12 times now and every time is a special time. Some of the staff has been there for 15 years plus and are always welcoming and go above and beyond to make sure the guests old and new feel special! The only negative the last couple trips has been the hot tub/jacuzzi’s have been anything but warm/hot and this years trip the wait time getting in for breakfast was something we had never experienced and could be avoided if they opened back up the other restaurant Fuego for breakfast.

My stay at Mahekal was great. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a very tropical vibe. Location is amazing and the staff was friendly and helpful. One negative thing was I had my bose and apple headphones go missing. While there. The staff was very helpful in looking for them.

We spent 7 days at Mahekal at the end of Jan 2026. LOVED every minute. Small, un-crowded resort with clean pools and spotless, comfortable rooms. The staff is simply amazing and friendly, they made every moment special with their attention to detail. We stayed in the King Palapa gardem view. We loved the natural roof and the attached porch with seating and hammocks. Mahekal is truly a magical place. We did the half-board option with breakfast and dinner buffets and had no regrets. Food was very fresh and a bit different every day. We headed into Playa for lunch, which was great due to the cental location of the resort. We cant wait to go back!!!

This resort needs a major update. Everything is worn down and dirty, the bungalows stink. I did not enjoy my stay at all.

If you’re going to Expedia. You may think that this is all inclusive. It is but you have to pay extra for it! With the all inclusive and the extra fees, the hotel throws at you. Expect to spend about $1900 extra. Just under 1600 for the all-inclusive. And 300 and extra. Once I got past the initial shock of extra fees. It was an amazing resort! I would suggest getting a room in the upper 100s room. Far enough away from the music. We stayed in 179. Great room, great staff, and amazing food! Absolutely beautiful here. They don’t runoff the wildlife either. Had a cute Coati that lives in a tree next to my room.

Terrible hotel, and experience with this hotel and rental car in enterprise from Expedia, We arrived around 3 am in the this hotel because we have some problems with the rental in enterprise rental car from Expedia in the beginning. like i said before. So Since the minute we arrived at the hotel was horrible, nobody received our car, they didn't have parking space and told us to park outside in the street and use a parking spot to pay with coin every hr. This was ridiculous because they didn't even try to help or give us chance to keep the car , The reception guy was very unprofessional and the guy was unhappy and with mood attitude, he didn't even help for our luggage or asked about it, nobody was there to help or receive our luggage in the beginning. So after we saw this inconvenience we want to check the room and nothing like I saw in the pictures. Ocean view were was blocked from another unit. A little bathroom with one sink. Very disappointed and the guy he didn't even know where was our room or what sección was in the hotel. Looks like he was sleeping and we interrupted , probably is the reason was upset. Terrible experience at 3 am we have to leave this hotel after all of these. Almost 5000 dlls for 1 week snd even i complained and expedia didn't want to give us a refund for that Terrible hotel and rental car. I never have thia kind the experience with Expedia. But this time you have to think two times about to get a package or any hotel in different countries.
