Very lovely welcome to a historic and plush, cosy stay at Jorvik House for a post Christmas getaway. Everything fantastic, only mimor gripes that Yorks parking might be a tad cheaper, perhaps there are cheaper ones than the conveniently located Marygate car park a stones throw away.

Check in was a very pleasant experience. We took advantage of the luggage check and on return to the hotel for check in our bags had been delivered to our room. We were even showed to our room, a nice touch. Room was very clean and the bed comfortable. A million dollar view from our room across a quiet street. Would definitely stay again.

The room is simply and beautifully decorated. Very clean and the hotel provides lots of different types of beverages and snacks. Staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating. The location of the hotel is close to interesting sight seeing spots. Very convenient.

Always come back to Jorvik if possible - staff are friendly. Rooms cozy and comfortable. We were in a junior suite this time and apart from the long climb to the top of the property was just what we needed.

This accommodation was in the most perfect place for a visit to York. It was right across from the museum gardens, quiet, and a quick walk to the city center. Loved it!

Whilst the bathroom looked very luxurious, overnight the drain started to smell dreadfully. Only stopped by keeping the door shut. The problem could be outside because the drain(s) at entrance to the lane to private car parking also smelled bad. Staff were empathetic but could only offer a twin room on the top floor. At 85 my husband did not want to walk that far. We had to ask for more milk, coffee pods (only 1 given for 2 nights) and no biscuits even though these were available when I asked for reinforcements. The bathroom extractor fan was not working or on, and the lower shower leeks.

This is an excellent little hotel. Spotlessly clean, friendly staff and in an excellent location not far from train station and York Minster. Would highly recommend.

The room was delightfully and tastefully modern, clean, spacious and comfortable. The location is brilliant for walking into the city core, but far enough away to be totally quiet. We loved it for our compressed day in York.

Location amazing. Beautiful clean bright spacious rooms. The only issue we faced is we couldn’t get the water temperature in the shower to turn down from boiling hot.

Jorvik House was a great stay for our overnight trip in York and was centrally located but away from the crowds of the city. The room was well appointed and quiet, and we had the best night’s sleep of our entire 3-week UK trip in the very comfortable bed! The only fault of our stay is the lack of clarity around the parking at the property - we weren’t aware of the parking situation before we arrived and the closest car park was £25 per night.

The hotel is located very close to restaurants, pubs, and a beautiful park right across the street. It’s walkable into the city center with many beautiful sites and attractions.

Location and convenience

We had a very enjoyable stay, very friendly and helpful staff and a great location close to the city centre. The only issue we had was with parking. Though the hotel has no on-site parking it can rent a limited number of places nearby. We booked one of these only to find someone else had taken our spot and we had to use the closest car park instead.
