Staff were amazing my first room number 9 smelt of damp and they quickly moved me, food amazing, spa amazing will definitely be back x

We had a fantastic stay at The Barnsdale, such a beautiful, relaxing and picturesque venue. We enjoyed use of the spa, which is beautifully done, small and intimate. Evening meal in the Brasserie was delicious with fabulous service and breakfast was just as delicious, with lots of choice and was well organised. All staff were very polite and helpful, especially the lovely lady on reception. The welcome glass of wine on arrival was such a lovely touch. Only disappointment was that the king size bed was in fact two single mattresses pushed together, also the window wouldn’t open and so the room was quite warm. All that said, the room was clean, cosy and so beautifully decorated Overall though, our stay was so beautiful, and so so relaxing! Thanks so much for having us

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this great hotel in beautiful surroundings. We have no criticisms to make. The staff were all courteous and attentive, the room was spotless and the food as good as any high class restaurant. We hope to stay there again.

Such a beautiful hotel, with a warm welcome from the reception desk. Little things which make you feel welcome. The room was gorgeous, with amazing views where you can just relax. Food was excellent with great service. Will definitely be staying here again and trying out the spa.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay . Staff were so attentive and friendly, the setting is gorgeous and the food was excellent. The outdoor pool and hot tubs are an added bonus . Thoroughly recommended

I must admit, we were a little worried after reading some of the reviews, but our experience was just fantastic! From the polite and friendly staff, the beautiful surroundings, the room (number 14) which was huge and had a wonderful rain shower and complimentary sponge cakes (delicious!), as well as a fan to keep us cool in the unusually hot weather. We made good use of the spa facilities with a swim in the pool then a relaxing time in the hot tub and sauna to finish. We never had to wait although I'm sure you do at ver6 busy times. Breakfast was delicious and quick too with a good selection of cold foods and hot food cooked to order. We didn't eat at the hotel for dinner so we're unable to review that, but it was great to finish our evening with a coffee in the beautiful courtyard. We absolutely loved our stay and would come again!

Breakfast was good and the room comfortable. We were however in an upstairs annex and the room was incredibly noisy overnight (boiler?). Didn't get much sleep

Room was small but generally fine. Could have done with better lighting but everything worked. Food very good, good selection of drinks at the bar and decent tea in the room. It was nice that there was always staff about. Lovely setting and plenty of car parking. We had a few issues though - the bed sheets had blood stains on them. Had obviously been washed but we asked for replacement sheet as it was not nice to sleep in. The toilet seat was loose, but the worst thing was one of the single mattresses was well worn so you could feel all the springs. After tossing and turning for hours, I eventually put a towel on top which at least allowed me to sleep. These negatives put a bit of a downer on the stay, particularly considering it wasn't a cheap place to stay. So overall it's a could do better.

This hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and in calm , quiet location. The room was nice and clean and a good size. The presentation for the tea and coffee in the room was excellent and a really nice added touch. The breakfast choices were good and cooked on individual requests. A great place to stay . Thank you.

We were greeted by friendly and professional staff, who assisted us with our luggage and accompanied us to our room. The room was clean and quiet. It was well supplied with refreshments and a hand-written welcome note. The bed was comfortable, quite firm but not hard. Dinner was excellent! There was a very good choice, each dish was delicious and service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast too was very good and well prepared. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again.
