The hotel is lovely abs the room spacious however on arrival I went up to my room to find the aircon not working. I called down to reception to be told the, aircon in the hotel had s problem and fans were placed in my room, this was not told to me prior to arrival or on check in. The issues with the fans: were 1 fan blew warm air, the other was so loud I had to sleep with a noise cancelling headset on! Such a shame I stay at the cube frequently for work but will not book again. If aircon diesnt work guests should be emailed and given the option to cancel with a full refund. Disappointing

They moved rooms for us because our toilet wasn’t flushing. The only down side to the stay was it was too hot in the room. We had a delicious breakfast. Thank you for all the staff help

The Cube is meant to be a 4-star hotel. It really isn't. First impressions of the check-in lobby were that it was shabby and dusty. We had pre-paid for the hotel and stayed in room 2419. Upon check-in, we were informed that the air conditioning in the entire building was not functioning. We were told that they had engineers trying to fix it all day. The check-in desk person said that the hotel apologised for this. He did not offer a discount for the inconvenience, nor apologise for not warning us, and he did not offer us a fan to cool down the room. The room's windows do not open. He then asked for the £50 pre-authorisation on our credit card. This is an outrageous practice in which the hotel holds the £50 until check-out, but the money is not automatically refunded to the account. On our way to our room, the decor in the lift, the corridors, and doors is tired, shabby and unclean. The room was the same, though the cleanliness was a bit better. Our room had a massive steel pillar right next to the left-hand side of the bed where you can knock your head trying to get in and out of bed, so how this passed health& safety is a mystery. The air-con had not been fixed for the duration of our stay, so it was very uncomfortable. The mattress was incredibly soft - it was like sleeping on a trampoline. Breakfast was okay but not a 4-star quality. There was not a single person at check-out, you just left your card keys on an empty desk where anyone can pick it up - insecure.

Absolutely shocking experience - DO NOT STAY. We arrived for our booking to be told there was no air con and no windows in our room, but told it was possible to cancel for a full refund. We looked at the room and saw quickly that the fan was poorly quality and given there were no windows it would be impossible to stay. We were in the city for a wedding just 2 hours post check in and needed to now find new accomodation and change. The receptionist was incredibly unhelpful and said that it was our responsibility to find an alternative hotel and would not be able to use their facilities to get ready for the wedding and advised us to use the restaurant toilets as we “were no longer guests of the hotel”. After our embarrassing changing in the toilet cubicle antics we then had to find another hotel at great expense last minute, in the city, on pride weekend so prices were much higher! I understand technical faults happen, but the way we were treated by the staff was absolutely shocking.

Extremely uninterested girl on the check in desk. Waited a few minutes for someone to arrive at the desk. It did sound like the reception staff were having a good laugh though in the back area whilst I waited. Bad mannered and poor service. It was like she was doing me a favour checking me in.

My booking was cancelled at very short notice due to a leaking shower and no other rooms being available. Receptionist stated that "room was cancelled, nothing else was available..and that we should try to contact other hotels in the area.

Having booked half board, I was surprised to find out there is no breakfast offered on Tuesday! This did come off the total price, but meant I had to find alternatives while away with work. In addition, I felt very unwelcome in the restaurant!

Unfortunately, the air-con was broken during my stay so it was impossible to regulate room temperature. Despite being given access to some fans, my room was extremely hot and uncomfortable

The check in was great, no problems at all, very helpful staff, it all went wrong when we came back after our night out, the TV didn’t work, spoke to the staff member at reception, all she said was there was not maintenance at that time, on returning to my room I noticed that there was no air conditioning, the hotel had put 2 electric fans in the room. Now this room was on the 24th floor and had no widows that can be opened, so you have all the heat from the other floors coming up to the 24th floor and the put 2 fans in the room to move warm air around an already very warm room, in the morning the staff where very dismissive of the fact the A/C was not working, “yes we know it’s not working but we have put some fans in the room”. So the don’t have any maintenance on site in the evening and they are not concerned about the air conditioning not working, the trip was very close the being saved by the breakfast, but no even though the breakfast was very good the bad points still marked the trip as a bad one, I will not stay in this hotel again

Location is excellent, short walk from the New Street Station and near many bars and restaurants. Also a lovely 10 minute walk from the Utilita arena along the canals past more bars and restaurants. Room was nice and breakfast was good. Great views from the restaurant. Had bottles of water in the room and tea/coffee making facilities. Along with iron and hairdryer. Would definitely return again if going to the Utilita.

Room was spacious but the AC wasn’t working which was fine as they provided a fan. But we were offered a free drink. The fridge didn’t work which could be an issue for people who need it for health reasons but they had someone to fix it straight away, sadly it wasn’t fixable. The bar was great and plenty of seating. Breakfast was massive and really tasty but the coffee was like warm. Had a nicer one back in the room.

So we turned up to be told that the air conditioning had been Brocken for at least two weeks and our room was like a sauna. We were taken to our room as we would be prepared to stay but it really was so hot that we couldn’t breathe . Why weren’t we told of this before hand ? The girl on reception was very helpful and advised us and helped find an alternative accommodation and sent an email to hotels.com explaining the situation. None of this was our fault. Finally somebody from hotels. Com phoned us at 10pm but by then we were in the utilita arena at a concert so couldn’t possibly hear . We were then called back at 2.30am can you imagine what went through our heads at that time of night especially with frail elderly parents . WE managed to phone you back at 9.30am and got cut off before we could speak to anyone . This is very concerning and in my opinion very unprofessional. We have also been left out of pocket for something that was completely out of our control and could have easily been sorted out before hand …..,,,,

First time staying at the Cube Hotel, and the location is fabulous. The room was spacious and bright, with a great view from the 24th floor. The room was well-appointed, with everything you'd need (safe, ironing board, mini fridge, bottled water and cookies). The air conditioning didn't seem to work, and there was a column heater in the room to compensate. The standard of the bedding didn't match the rest of the room, which was disappointing - a saggy mattress and nothing but overstuffed firm pillows. It was OK, but I had expected better. Several issues in the bathroom, which I reported to reception on check out - a constant drip from the shower, a leak under the basin, and the drain in the shower was almost fully blocked, which meant I had to turn the shower on and off to make sure it didn't flood the bathroom. The restaurant on the 25th floor (Marco Pierre White) was fabulous, and the cooked-to-order breakfast was a standout. Despite a few niggles, I would definitely stay again.

Breakfast was a little disapointing. The Cadbury waffles - the waffles was microwaved and chewy. The rooms - the aircon was broken and no prior notice of rhis before stay with the opportunity to switch hotels. This was very uncomfortable. It wasnt mentioned at check in either. We had to ask for an extra fan for the room, which broke, with a replacement requested from reception each time. This was 3 or 4 teips down to reception on floor 7 feom floor 24 each visit. It felt like we were in the lift or waiting for it more than actually in the room. The shower was also broken. The overhead rainfall shower head had so little watwr presure it bearly even wet your hair. The hand held shower head at waist height more water came out of the handle than the shower head also making it hard to get clean. The staff were helpful and attentive, but no consession offered for the inconveniences.

Reception area very tired. No one on reception to greet guests, they stay in a back room and come out when they hear you. No mention of breakfast or the restaurant. Not a great first impression. Room very spacious and views were great. Room itself is a bit worn and could definitely do with a makeover.
