This is my second time staying at The George. Whilst it may be a little tired round the edges, and not the most polished of places to stay. It does have very friendly staff, and does serve great beer! I'm sure I will be back again next time I am working in the area. I would rather stay in a 'real pub' than a modern over polished replica like many pubs have become these days. Yes It would be nice if the TV was a bit bigger, and yes it would have been great to have an ensuite (some rooms do have them, others have a private bathroom down the corridor) but that isn't the end of the world. They dont serve food, but there are other places within an easy walk to get food from. If you want somewhere simple (with a comfortable bed), very friendly staff, and a great couple of pints, you could do a lot worse than staying here. And the prices are also very reasonable for the room, and the refreshments!

Friendly staff, but the room and facilities are very much in need of an update. The double bed in room 7 is terrible; nowhere near flat, and extremely rickety.

The room is very tired and quite dirty. Bathroom was disgusting, thick dust and grime on lower shelf and lower toilet system. Bin was thick with dust on top. Shower unit looked so old and grimey we didnt use. The toilet did not flush properly. The staff however were really friendly. No food available.

The staff were really helpful and pleasant in both the bar and hotel. We had issues with the TV in the room but these were resolved quickly by the staff. The hotel was a bit tired and so was the room. There was a huge bathroom with a carpeted floor, which is not ideal in a bathroom. The electric shower didn't work on the morning we left & we couldn't find anyone to tell about it before we left. The bedding was clean, but the bed and pillows were a bit firm, so not so good if you prefer them softer. It wasn't overly expensive to stay here, so it was around the quality of accommodation we expected.

The access to the parking area is quite narrow, to navigate through with a wide car is challenging. The room decor is a bit dated; however the bed is very comfortable and clean. Bar - at the ground flood, but not tried.

Parking ok but not on site. No hot water in the wash basin in room. Had to hold shower head by hand. Outdated equipment. Carpets stained and not very clean. Heating didn’t come on. But comfortable beds, and young staff very friendly and helpful. Room at front so traffic noise.

Firstly booked it in advance but when I got there I wasn't expected The lady who greeted me was very polite and professional On the website it says Free parking well unless you have a fiat uno you can't get to the parking area was told if I parked on the road outside I would probably get a ticket But I could park at the Black Dog pub half a mile down the road in there car park The whole place was shabby stains on carpets the so called lounge area was dismal THE stairs up to the room were very steep good job I didn't have any medical issues the mattress on beds had. Past there day sheets had stains on them The shower was full of rust and mould Will attach pictures The steep stairs has no lighting and as I left at 420am it was very dark
