Second time staying at the Octant Douro, this time bringing my daughter. Experience didn’t disappoint. Everything was great!

I read a number of the negative reviews (after I had booked) and arrived at the hotel with anticipation of being disappointed. I am glad to say we had a lovely stay. Food was good, staff helpful, it is a lovely setting. I stayed in the river view suite and the room was great. Design good and lots of space. There is a lovely walk along the river. My only regret was that I had not figured where the hot buffet was at breakfast. I only spotted it when I was leaving. Thankfully, I was not there when children were in residence. I saw that a number of previous guests had complained of child disruption/noise. I can see how that would affect the tranquility. Maybe check for times when children are least likely to be around if you want to enjoy the peace and quiet. I would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful modern hotel in a very unspoilt area. All rooms beautifully designed to make the most of the river views. The reception staff were superb and recommended a lovely local hike along the river/through villages. They also recommended a great gorge walk along passageways a bit further away which was beautiful. The food at Raiva was excellent and it was a beautiful room. A Terra food was more basic/standard. Breakfast buffet was great. We especially enjoyed the heated outdoor infinity pool and the beautiful indoor pool. All staff were lovely and helpful. I would recommend a room with an outdoor balcony to enjoy the views.

Absolutely fantastic. Book a room with a full view, it is worth it! Great place to stay and relax for 3-5 days...and it's possible to hike around the hotel to close-by villages.

Outstanding hotel, lovely for a small relaxing by the Douro river. Breathtaking views, amazing food and very nice interior decor. Staff are great (reception is exemplary!), however I would say that restaurant staff need to improve on their English as I felt service is much better in Portuguese than English (I’m Portuguese and my partner’s English which is how we noticed this difference). Otherwise, this has inspired us to think about going to yet another Octant hotel in future (we’ve been to the one in Évora before which is also great!)

Hotel de diseño con vistas estupendas al Duero. Tiene dos piscinas pequeñas, y un gimnasio y spa también pequeños, pero suficientes. El restaurante Raiva ofrece una comida y un servicio excelentes. El sumiller, Pedro, se portó especialmente bien con nosotros, explicando los vinos de la región y teniendo un trato muy amable. El hotel ofrece diversas actividades, como paseos por el Duero, excursiones, etc. Un lugar estupendo para relajarse y desconectar unos días.

Bernardo was amazing

Beautiful property with amazing staff from reception to house keeping. Sofia from house keeping made us feel so at home offering us extra water when I mentioned we drank a lot of water and checking on us when she saw us in the hallway. Kindness prevailed at this hotel.

This Hotel in my opinion is for somebody who wants to get away from everything, it's very secluded and quiet.

Wonderful stay in a gorgeous location. Staff, room, comfortable bed, food (in-room dining and onsite) were excellent.

Rita was so knowledgeable and engaging. All of the staff went above and beyond.

The bathroom was poorly designed and unsanitary. The floor tiles in the shower were broken up and unsafe. Water flies were everywhere. One of the two sinks was over the toilet.

Absolutely stunning views. Even the drive up is gorgeous. The staff is attentive and friendly. Will need to stay longer next time.

This place is very peaceful. I am not sure I have ever had such a quiet and relaxing hotel experience. Food, rooms and staff were all exceptional. Loved the floor to ceiling view of the Douro River from our room and rooftop pool was awesome.

Excellent hotel. Very relaxing place to stay with lots of amenities. The spa is lovely. Views are amazing. Our room had 2 terraces overlooking the river. Highly recommend

The property itself is beautiful, we went for a hike along the trail and was lovely. Amenities are great, a small but very useful gym and of course many pools on sites. All of the restaurants on site are great. The Michelins restó is a great experience. I booked a lymphatic massage and facial and that was not a good experience felt very unprofessional and highly overpriced in terms of the experience received.

The views were unbelievable. Staff were amazing as was the food.
