My room was extremely hot , there were 2 fans whuch did very little to cool it. A mobile aircon unit would have been preferable. I didnt sleep well becayse if the heat My son had upgraded and had aircon, so this needs to be considered. This was after the heatwave, I think if the temps had been 30plus outside the room would have been unuseable...

Friendly helpful staff, lovely traditional hotel with a large back garden and plenty of garden seating to use. Breakfast was a choice of hot cooked, or continental pastries, yoghurt, fruit, toast and cereal - buffet style. Parking at rear of hotel for guests. Positioned at end of the high street within easy walking distance of shops, cafes and restaurants. Luckily we had air conditioning in our room as we were told not all of the hotel has it and it was 36 degrees one day!

Beautiful hotel set in a perfect location for local shops, restaurants & the Forest. The staff are so friendly, special shout outs to Lucy & Liz who made our stay even nicer. The room was large & comfortable & we were very fortunate to have had air conditioning in such hot weather. We ate in the restaurant both nights & the food was to a very high standard. Breakfast is a buffet with plenty of choice. This was our 2nd stay & we are looking forward to returning.

I arrived with my 8 year old for a 2 night stay during a very hot heatwave. Upon checking in I proceeded to attempt to use the little elevator which got stuck between floors with me inside so I went back down and carried my heavy suitcase up the stairs. I immediately noticed how stifling hot the room was and saw the thermostat had a spanner symbol on. I had to call down 2x to get assistance which came in the form of a small fan. We booked a reservation to eat downstairs at the restaurant and were seated quickly, now here my biggest issue with this hotel, the food was terrible, really bad and overpriced. Who designed that menu? Pieces of soggy chicken with raw lemon dumped on top and instant rice. A £90 disaster. My daughter refused to eat her fish and chips because there was a hair on her plate. The table felt sticky. And the dusty fake flowers everywhere dated and so tacky. The sparkling water taste like tap that had been carbonated in house. The hotel itself is a nice Victorian building but the upkeep is not there and there is no standard of quality. The lamp shade in my room was damaged and the sheets had pink stains. Not kid friendly and on a very busy high street.

Really liked the hotel and staff were very helpful. Plan to go back next year.

We had a fabulous stay, the staff were lovely and very helpful, the rooms -snug doubles were comfy and great for a one night stay. The food was excellent too. We will definitely be back

The hotel is a lovely old building with a lot of nice features. Our room was on the 2nd floor and fortunately there is a tiny ancient lift that is just big enough for 2 people and a suitcase, the room was 'cosy' but big enough, the ensuite had a good shower with somewhere for your shampoo etc if you didn't want to use theirs, it could have done with a hook nearby for your towel but that's my only minor complaint. The breakfast was a typical buffet, just what you expect. I had to ask for plant based milk and was sad they didn't have soya yoghurt but hey ho (I had been spoilt at the previous hotel where they had vegan milk and yoghurt out for you to help yourself). We didn't dine at the Crown as the only vegetarian option has parmesan in it - not vegetarian. The staff were all very good and helpful. There are some nice areas to sit and read, chat, or whatever and a lovely outside garden area with lots of seating - nice if it wasn't raining. There's a large car park with plenty of parking and the hotel is in the centre of Lyndhurst handy for shops, pubs and restaurants.

Classic coaching inn. Comfortable rooms with the unexpected benefit of air conditioning. Bar/restaurant served an excellent lunch with an enthusiastic and efficient front of house team.

This hotel was absolutely delightful, comfortable & full of character. The grounds were lovely and the staff were very friendly, polite and exceedingly welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was way beyond our expectation of a buffet breakfast. There was a huge range of food available from a full English through to fruit, cereal & yoghurt. It was all delicious. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone, or to stay there again. We relaxed the minute we came through the door. A BIG Thank you to all the staff, from the management to the cleaners, we had a wonderful stay.

Lovely stay. Staff are friendly and helpful . For breakfast there is a great variety to choose from . We had a lovely four poster bag of my on to the garden , bed was super comfy and it was a nice peaceful sleep . Would say that some of decor is looking a little tired and maybe due a refurb but that said our stay was wonderful. Thankyou

A gorgeous hotel in a fantastic location for exploring the new forest. Despite being in a very central location, the hotel itself is very quiet and a perfect place to relax - cocktails during happy hour in the garden was a real highlight! Our room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed - the only complaint would be that, being an older building, you can hear every creaky floorboard etc. and we did experience a lot of noise from the room above which would not be ideal for light sleepers. Breakfast in the morning was well stocked/serviced and all very tasty. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again on our next trip to the area.
