Perhaps some rooms were wonderful but we must have gotten literally the worst room in the hotel. When we walked into the room (Robertson) we smelled something like cat or dog urine. The furniture was maybe period but practically unusable. The basin was outside the bathroom. The carpet was very old. The bathroom was at most at the level 2 star hotel. It had ugly old bathtub, the shower that suddenly stopped working properly and had only very hot water. The experience was very unpleasant given that it is not a cheap hotel. However, and this is important, the staff was very nice. I blame the owner of the place and the management, but especially the owner.

Really nice room with towers in the castle. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere in a very calm environment, perfect to relax and enjoy intimacy. You can enjoy either the restaurant or pub food in the lounge. It was really nice to enjoy seating in the lounge and eating there. Breakfast was also very good. Staff was very friendly and absolutely lovely, thanks !

We loved the location and Castle. The staff- very friendly and had time for a chat. We arrived during a tropical storm and could not have picked a better place to hunker down. With the rain pouring down and the winds at 50-60 gusts, this hotel offered a great haven. The bar and restaurant were an added bonus.

We came up here in Feb 2026 with our baby so my husband could take advantage of the good weather for skiing. Cannot rate Dalmunzie enough for its attentive, considerate and very helpful staff who were really accommodating of us, despite having a fully booked hotel which some establishments can struggle with Dalmunzie was top of its game re service at the restaurant and reception as well. The location is perfect for Glenshee ski resort, plenty of parking and the rooms are warm and lovely. Food is delicious as well which is a bonus. Loved it here, we will be back !

Just back from the wonderful Dalmunzie Castle Hotel 5 day Hogmany/New Year Package Wonderful experience Wonderful food Staff lovely Perfect location Activities included However - the hotel does need some general upgrades. Getting a little tired in some areas. Wallpaper pealing, rooms need attention to storage, formal dresses need full hanging storage - we had to use the doors as wardrobe was to short. Superking bed requires supeking duvet (ours had a king duvet) so did not reach over the sides, Full length mirrors needed, bathrooms need shelving areas for toiletries. Dressing table with appropriate socket location and lights for make up. Bath robes would be a lovely addition. Heating in rooms should work appropriately ( was reported and additional heaters supplied) bathroom towel rail never worked and shower riser rail - loose then broke. Again reported - temp fix - as i said little improvements and these DID NOT distract from the whole experience. Highly recommended.
