This was an experience everyone should take advantage of when it comes to staying in the Tortuguero area. I want to make sure everyone understands how amazing of an opportunity it is to stay in the middle of a jungle and get the privilege to see the wildlife and views this incredible remote town has to offer. We were able to take river jungle cruises and interact with monkeys, iguanas, toucans, crocodiles and so much more that can not be explained in a review. Now when it comes to the hotel and accommodations everyone needs to be prepared to what you are about to experience. The people were amazing and always extremely helpful. The property was beautiful to walk around and see the monkeys scope you out and prepare to take your welcome snacks the moment you look away…we loved this part. One pool is not something I would swim in but the larger pool was nice and clean with. Bar close by to order refreshing cocktails. My only reason for 4 stars is the rooms that are in need of repairs. I know it is an echo lodge and we knew there would not be any air conditioning, but it would have been nice to have better fans to help cool off at night. Yes we knew the water in the rooms were not drinkable before we got there and there would be no AC. As long as you are ok with sweating non stop for the entire time you are here and prepared for many bugs to be always around you then it is worth it. We do not regret going here because of what we got to see and the experience is something we will tell for many years. If there is another hotel nearby that has AC and you can afford then maybe that would be a better option.

During our two-day stay at this lodge, we had a truly wonderful experience surrounded by nature and wildlife. From the moment we arrived, the friendly and welcoming staff made us feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout our visit. The lodge itself is very well maintained, with clean and comfortable rooms that provided a relaxing place to rest after our daily activities. One of the highlights of our stay was the boat trip and the guided trail walk. Both excursions were excellent and gave us the opportunity to experience the incredible wildlife of the area up close. We were lucky enough to see both two-toed and three-toed sloths, several species of monkeys, and many beautiful birds. For nature lovers and wildlife photographers, this place is an absolute paradise. Every outing felt like a new adventure, with something interesting to discover around every corner. The food at the lodge was also very enjoyable. Meals were fresh, tasty, and offered a good variety, making every breakfast and dinner something to look forward to after a day exploring the surroundings. Overall, this lodge offers a perfect combination of nature, comfort, and hospitality. The combination of amazing wildlife experiences, friendly staff, clean accommodations, and good food made our stay memorable. I would definitely recommend this lodge to anyone looking for an authentic nature experience and would happily stay here again in the future.

Beautiful lodges set right in the rainforest with an absolutely gorgeous location. The fact that it’s only accessible by boat made the whole experience feel even more special, and we were really glad we chose to stay here rather than in the main village. The setting was unreal — waking up surrounded by nature was unforgettable. The lodges themselves were well equipped, very clean, and had large comfortable beds. The pool area was also fantastic and a great place to relax after exploring. At night it could be quite noisy, but honestly that’s all part of being in the rainforest — between the rain and the sounds of the animals, it felt authentic rather than a negative. The only thing we would have preferred was an à la carte dining option instead of the buffet with dictated dining times. Aside from that, it was an amazing stay and a unique experience we’d definitely recommend.

The good: The service is great and the included menu is also pretty good. I don’t have many complaints when it comes to food / staff. 🌸The smoothies were AMAZING and the best I had in Costa Rica!🌸 With that said the rooms are definitely in need of some updating. No shampoo or conditioner. No towels for the pool. Some of the pools are dirty and filled with insects and abandoned on the property. There’s neglect. The wildlife is great but if I chose again I would choose pachira (which we got to visit for a nature walk and which was SO MUCH NICER and well kept with a beautiful pool and restaurant area.) The guides were lovely - shout out to Ivan and Fernando

This was by far my favorite place to stay in Costa Rica! The owner is very friendly and hospitable. I will say we had a little trouble with the showers, but that is to be expected as the cabins are literally in the jungle. It was a very magical experience being here and this place will always have a spot in my heart! (The pool is pretty fun too!)
