If I could only stay at one Ryoken the rest of my life...it would be here. I cannot explain the level of kindness, architecture, food and nature here. Yes they do not have 12 outside baths ( maybe 2 or 3 ) but it feels so personal. so much a part of nature ... there is just something special here . There is also a small river with steps/ ladder ( bring good water shoes) that you can swim in. It is deep enough to jump in from the ledges and swim all afternoon. This river empties out onto the much larger one near the train in Yuyaonsen where there is a park and many BBQs and kids and people if you want to go there... but this place is just magic. A hidden gem. I hope to go back again soon and walk in the morning and see the train, the rice fields and then have the amazing breakfast provided. I stayed here about 12 years ago and then also in the Summer of 2024 with my wife and son.

Amazing Ryokan. Breakfast and dinner included, the level of service and thoughtfulness is next level. Don't second guess your stay here. Booked the room with private balcony bath which was incredible. They even picked us up from the train stop.

In nature with hot bath in a traditional Japanese style inn. Traditional breakfast and dinner included, which is the best decision as there are very few restaurants around. It's hard to get to as it takes time, but several options for hiking and nature. The rooms are very authentic, so you might also hear the neighbors.

If you've ever dreamed of sleeping in a gassho house, this is the place! Inside it feels more like a traditional ryokan, neat and modernized just the right amount. The onsen is super relaxing, you can hear the river outside, and it's all very sweet and very iconic-Japan 😊 Dinner is also genuinely good, not the kind pre-made by some nearby company and delivered to every mid-budget ryokan in the area (which happens a lot, by the way, and it's probably why ryokan dinners are often surprising but not that memorable).
