Good location near restaurants. Friendly staff and clean rooms

The Hotel Catedral Plaza in Santa Marta, Colombia, is a centrally located and convenient place to explore the city.

The hotel is nice and the rooms were cleaned. However PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE AREA, Do NOT go inside the water, it’s contaminated and can lead to serious health problems. The surroundings are also not very safe so if you plan to stay in the hotel and enjoy the amenities that is great, but if you want to enjoy the beach, go to beaches in El Rodadero. This part of town is not the best in safety and the beaches are dirty.

Great location

This Hotel is like super old and needs maybe some invests. Furniture in the room are basically damaged and super old. There is a pool but more used by the pigeons than the guests.

The front desk staff have to be the rudest people that I’ve ever dealt with. The bad: there is no bottled water in the room, no coffee maker, Direct Tv did not work. The good: the people working on the 6 th floor are very nice, the pool is clean, the bed was comfy. First impressions mean a lot and when you get treated like crap when you walk in and when you check out it leaves a bad impression. Please speak with the front seat staff, it really is a nice hotel. Just a few bad people working there.

Cómodo y accesible hotel. Las estancias son limpias y hermosas. Lo mejor es el trato por parte del staff. Lo recomendaría una y otra vez. Gracias

The hotel and staff were outstanding. The food was delicious and the rooms were very spacious. The bathroom was very big. The outside is very busy but this is normal in the heart of the city.

The stuff is excellent. Properties is nice clean around the area a little rough otherwise excellent I love it.

No water 2 nights after returning from entertainment district and wanted to brush my teeth and shower before I went to bed. Room is not sound proof I could hear the bells from the cathedral ringing every hour from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm on Sunday and Wednesday mornings. I could also hear the people in the next room and they could hear me because they were banging on the walls. From the first day my key card to enter the room did not work properly I had to swipe it 5 - 10 before door would unlock. I asked front desk about fixing the problem but they said it was me so I asked them to come to my room and try and it did not work for them either. It was on the 10th day of my stay before someone came to fix the door. They have a spa and fitness centre that are not open for use by guests. The area is dangerous walking back late at night. After 2 issues with people trying to rob and hustle me I paid a armed security guy from the entertainment area to escort me back to the hotel and he would only take the pedestrian streets and main road. The door man at this hotel is even armed with a hand gun. The room is a little worn and beat up. I booked a room with queen size bed and got a room with 2 twin beds pushed together that kept separating while I slept. There are better options for a stat in Santa marta. I was not happy and left the hotel 4 days early and went to a better hotel.

Nice place to stay Good breakfast and beds are comfortable. The staff was really nice and helpful This hotel is walking distance to the beach but the beach is a seaport . Not really a swimming beach but the locals do swim there

Hotel is nice for the price with good location

The expectations were high but it wasn’t what I was expecting. The humidity in the room was really bad ( the smell), exposed electrical cables in the shower head in the bathroom. However the service was very good as well as the staff.

Was further away from tourist area… in the evening walking back from the beach ( which is not far) there is nothing open / felt unsafe. Should have stayed by the beach area. Power went out. Didn’t bother to offer an explanation. I wouldn’t stay there again.

We had just 3 days at the Hotel Catedral Plaza and were SO disappointed to leave. The staff were all VERY friendly and accomodating. We were especially impressed with Gladys, a restaurant and bar server. Breakfast was impressive, with plenty of hot and cold choices - all included in the price. And what can I say about the pool? Absolute heaven - from places to sit to the amazing view!
